Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Sorry RekeROY, I'm having an inner Judas moment here...

I was ready to drop the cheddar on a personalized authentic Griffin jersey. Not only because my last name is "Griffin" but because this guy got me started on college basketball. The Kings were so horrible that I actually started "scouting" the unanimous #1 overall talent. Because of a knee injury for Griffin, it took an extra year but seriously today for some reason I'm just sitting here wishing that he was ours to enjoy as Kings fans. Explosive dunks, Powerful in the post, Gingery Appearance, What's not to love? I realize that this may come across as ungrateful for the exciting game winners and ROY season that our NaPG has provided us but DAMMIT, the world needed to know what I was feeling today. Blake Griffin, you should've been ours. I feel better now... Thanks for listening.

If liking Blake Griffin's play to the extent of still wishing our ping pong balls had landed differently for their draft is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup

Griffin has already sustained a season ending injury before he played a season lawl. If he stays healthy I’ll be impressed.

The very moment we found out that Minnesotta got the 6th pick in the draft

is when I stopped fantasizing or thinking about Blake Griffin being in a Kings uniform.

Maybe I’m a Reke fanboy or something, but I’m still think he’s the better player. Blake is a low key Dwight Howard in that his offensive game is limited. If he’s not dunking or playing off someone else he’s not going to score a lot.

No back to the basket game yet no post moves just raw athleticism and strength. Reke makes everyone around him better when he’s actively looking for teammates. He can effect the game in so many ways Blake can’t.

If reke gets the jumper consistent like Wade did hell be just as good and unstoppable. I still think we got off better they’d easily be number 1 and 2 in that draft today.

whether or not Tyreke or Griffin is a better player … eh

That's a common misconception that Griffin relies solely on his athletic ability.

Watch the replay of his game today vs the Pacers for example. He does absolutely everything you could ask a PF to do. He is the better player already. But when it comes to winning games, I think Tyreke at his best (1st half of Detroit game) and Griffin at his best (today vs Pacers), I’d pick Tyreke.

It's worth pointing out that a lot of the Clippers around him are more polished young players than what the Kings have.

And the result of having multiple top 10 picks in the last several years as well. Plus all the patience with their own pet project in DeAndre Jordan has worked out well because of Griffin.

I honestly think a healthy Reke would make the gap look smaller than it really is.

Cause you’re completely underselling the guy and clearly have not given him a proper review.

I beg to differ
when was the last time he did that!?
Reke is the single least successful PG is the entire league at making his friends better (out of starting guards, that is).
The ROY sesson, in which he played horrendous team basketball overwhelmed by sheer talent, just tells me that everybody approves of this style of play,, and I can’t understand that at all.

Griffin is a stud

It’s perfectly reasonable to Man-Crush on a guy that we could have gotten if the ping pong balls dropped a little differently.

He’s a stud and is becoming an absolute force…47 pts today? Really? WOW…and efficient…

We’ve got Tyreke and a ROY year to enjoy, and that was a lot of fun.

We aren’t trading Tyreke and the Clips aren’t moving Griffin so the conversation is fun…if I was creating a team and had the rookies to choose from in the last two years…

I’d pick Griffin first. I don’t even know if I would choose Tyreke second….blasphemous!

First Ginger ROY

I would guess that Bill Walton would be the first Ginger ROY candidate…but alas he did not deliver the hardware…

Brian Scalabrine was clearly hosed because of his Ginger Status…never got his chance…I believe Pau Gasol stole it from him that year…

Indeed BG could finally deliver the ROY and Ginger Man of theYear…

Comedy!

I'd rather have Blake Griffin

Than anybody in the last three drafts, including Rose, Westbrook and his sidekick, Eric Gordon. The only player in the past four drafts I’d rather have is Kevin Durant.

"Remember now, patience and stop the whining. This is something we have to endure to get better. We have no choice. Stick with Petrie, stick with Westphal, stick with Tyreke, stick it to the fans."

Make that the past five drafts

And outside of Chris Paul and maybe Deron Williams, you could stretch that to the past six drafts.

OK, I’ll stick with the third best player in the past six drafts behind Durant and Paul.

If I were starting my own NBA team,

Griffin would be one of my 9 options for 1st pick, factoring in both talent and age. They are (in no particular order) Wade, James, Howard, Rose, Paul, Durant, Westbrook, D. Williams, and Griffin. If I had one year to build a winner, then I take Kobe. But if I am building for the long haul, give me one of those 9 guys.

If you want a one year winner, pick LeBron. Just give him a team that’d make the playoffs w/o him, and you got a championship.

LeBron is a great regular season player

But he hasn’t proven he can get it done in the playoffs. I’d take Kobe over him for a one-series rental, even though he’s starting to get on in years..

Lol, he has some of the best playoff numbers of ANY player in NBA history.

And the team he just left is the worst in the league. Btw, do you reailze he took a team starting Daniel Gibson, Sasha Pavlovic, Drew Gooden, and Big Z to the NBA Finals?? Which other player could have done that. Serously, look at how awful the Cavs are. That was his “improved” squad (+/- ramon sessions, shaq, big z, and delonte west).

IMO, it is completely ludicrous to even consider that LeBron has been a disappointment in the playoffs or hasn’t proven himself the best player in the league by a HUGE margin.

Well ...

Do you realize that Kobe won 45 games with a team starting Odom, Smush Parker, and a mix of Brian Cook, Kwame, and Devean George? Heck it took the Suns 7 games to beat them with Marion, Nash, Amare all in their prime and with Diaw and Barbosa.

We’ll see what Lebron does with great players next to him but can’t really say I blame people for thinking Kobe has had the better career so far. Time will tell either way.

I see what you're saying, but when he had Caron Butler (who made the All-star team the following season)

and Odom, he still did not win a single playoff series. Kobe’s worst team of his career is very comparable to LeBron’s best team (until this season obv) in terms of overall talent. And with that said, Kobe has not won a playoff series w/o another allstar next to him (or for that matter even when he had two close ones — Odom and Butler).

In the end it’s all senseless argueing cause we don’t have the super section214 power to transport NBA players through time and space.

speaking of that 04-05 season

Kobe was hurt, Odom was hurt, Vlade got hurt early and retired, Rudy T retired mid season (with a winning record), and their forth best player was a combination of Chucky Atkins, Chris Mihm, Jumaine Jones, and Brian Cook.

Kobe and LeBron are both Jackasses

They happen to be my LEAST favorite players…However…if one of them were available for a package of Dalmebert and our #1 pick next year, I would happily take that deal. I would watch them much the same way I watched Bonds play for my Giants…Hate the player personally…love it when they deliver wins to the team…

Now before you go telling me that could never happen, I already checked it out in the Trade Machine…it said it was good to go…so it must be possible.
