MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Grizzlies guards O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen got into a fight on the team's charter flight Monday after a card game.

Allen had 19 points in the Grizzlies' 110-105 victory over Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. Mayo missed the game with bronchitis.

Memphis keeps Allen, sends Mayo to Sacramento.

I thought the NBA issued some type of "No card playing while on chartered flights" ban?

I don’t know if it was an official thing, or just a suggestion, but I thought the NBA said players couldn’t/shouldn’t do this—in light of the Gilbert Arenas ordeal.

by clicc916 on Jan 5, 2011 10:02 AM PST reply actions

No what happened is that teams in response to the Arenas-Crittenton incident did ban those games on their own.

Apparently the Grizz weren’t one of those teams.

If Omri has 12 games with 85+ TS% (20+ mins only) on the season, I will send RikSmits a slice of Cherry Pie with real Californian cheese pasteurized locally in Washington state.

I see a lot of people hear like Mayo

Is he really a good fit for this team? Seems like he’s too similar to Tyreke. Well Mayo can shoot a little but Mayo is not a distributer. It just seems like we would be just adding to the 1 on 1 play not trying to fix it.

I love beating dead horses.

This is the problem I have with Aaron Brooks...

…and truthfully a problem that might occur with Chauncey Billups. Although, I’ll state yet again, that assists isn’t really that important in the grand scheme of things. (Although, that’s not to say they don’t have value. Argh, I hate the assist stat.)

This is in case of potential trades^

Obviously none of those guys is slated to actually play for the Kings until they do.

I agree completely, Al

I can’t see anything that shows me Mayo is more than a less effective Tyreke with a slightly better outside shot. I could see a bunch of player types that would enhance what we have with Evans. A great distributor is one type. A pure outside shooter is another type. Even a Doug Christie, shut down defender with some passing ability would work. But OJ Mayo doesn’t seem to be any of those. I mean seriously if you played Mayo and Evans in the back court, who would you want to bring the ball up? I just don’t see that.

Brooks is another issue altogether. he is a sweet shooter who doesn’t play great defense or distribute well. The problem I have with that is he is basically Beno.

* Dally $13.43 million
* Beno $6.80 million
* Garcia $5.50 million
* Tyreke $3.88 million
* Cousins $3.37 million
* Landry $3 million
* JT $2.18 million

And with Beno under contract for another year, quite possibly 2, is it worth going after Brooks just to do something? I don’t think so.

I agree.

If we are going to spend the kind of money we have available, I either want to see a career double double veteran power forward or a speedy high BBall IQ PG who can give our guys more easy shots or both.

I want Andre Iguodala, Chauncey Billups or Tayshaun Prince.

That’s my wish list. No more or less. I think the Kings are very okay up front.

Interesting

I would like Igggy. Not sure how I feel about prince. Billups would be great also. I guess my question though is do you think we are more solid at PF or SF? I don’t think either Casspi or JT are clear starters at their positions on a playoff team. But I’m coming to think JT may be closer to his ceiling than Casspi.

Iggy is a very good passer

runs well at his position and is a pretty good defender, though not a great shooter. What would they want in return though? It seems like they need a C or a great 3 pt shooter. I don’t think they want Sammy back and we don’t have a great shooter to give them.

It wuld have to be 3 – way with Sammy perhaps going to Orlando or OKl.

From what I've read

They’d like to shed his salary. But obviously they would want more than that. If he is going to play the three would we be willing to part with Casspi? I think they might take a young 3 with lots of upside and the cap space.

* Dally $13.43 million
* Beno $6.80 million
* Garcia $5.50 million
* Tyreke $3.88 million

Iggy only shoots 35% from 3

but he averages over 6 rebounds and about 5.5 assists, so he’s clearly a good ball handler and willing passer. He’s a real phyisical presence too, it would make us a very physical team.

I guess I’d give up quite a bit to get him, but would rather have Casspi stay as his backup (though Iggy can play SG) and for the future.

I think it would have to be three teamer with a shooter going to Philly and Dally or Landry going somewhere (who provides the shoooter).

I think Casspi is better than JT.

It’s clear to me now that he’s better. However, I also don’t think JT is a starting PF and Omri could easily go that way as a starter in the future.

I think the Kings need an extra ball handler, better defense, someone who can take pressure off Reke & DMC and what not. The Kings probably would like kyrie Irving out of their upcoming pick in 2011 because he solves a lot of problems for this team even if he isn’t necessarily the best player in the draft or whatever. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a James Harden like pick with Petrie taking that player in 2011. I just wouldn’t be given that Reke & DMC are going to likely hold the mantle of “2 best players” sooner than later if you believe that forward progress is imminent.

I've seen Allen's jump shot

are we sure he was aiming for Mayo? There’s a 70% chance he was reaching for something 6’’ higher and 5’’ to the right of Mayo.
