Here is my fearless predictions of the rest of the season up to the start of next year.
The Feb. trade deadline comes and passes without a single move. Sorry trade theorists.
The Kings remain on their current trajectory and finish the season with 18 wins (they look better in their losses like they have the last few weeks though).
The Ping Pong Balls go our way (finally) and we end up with the 1st pick in the NBA draft
Kings Draft with the #1 pick......Kyrie Irving
Kings Draft with the two 2nd round picks the Kings get potential (much like Whiteside)
The NBA locks down......for one week. Normal activity for the most part resumes.
Kings fire Westphal
Kings hire Mike Woodson
Kings sign Jamal Crawford
Kings re-sign Carl Landry
KINGS ROSTER 2011
Starters
PG - KYRIE IRVING
SG - TYREKE EVANS
SF - OMRI CASPI
PF - JASON THOMPSON
C - DEMARCUS COUSINS
Bench
SG - JAMAL CRAWFORD
PF - CARL LANDRY
PG - BENO UDRICH
SF - FRANCISCO GARCIA
PF/C - HASSAN WHITESIDE
SF - DONTE GREEN
NA - 2nd round pick
NA - 2nd round pick
Not the big splash probably that people were hoping for. You'd have to admit bringing Crawford and Landry off the bench would be pretty awesome considering Crawford won the 6th man award last year (and should again this year) and Landry was probably 2nd place until the Kings trade. I bet Whiteside develops into someone that contributes defensively off the bench.
I see Omri finally taking the starting SF position. Irving as the clear cut rookie of the year. Cousins as a legit all-star next year and Tyreke looking much more like the Tyreke of 09/10 instead of the 1st half of this year. The results are the Kings become the surprise team of the league next year despite the absense of a big time free agent or huge trade. I think Mike woodson comes in and establishes a starting five and rotation that settles all the players into roles. The team takes off and Petrie holds on just long enough to get the executive of the year award and the accolades again.
What do you all think?
