Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 46

2_08-1_medium

Sarunas looks like Beno after P-90x

Sarunas Marciulionis is your 45th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Marciulionis was a pioneer for Europeans in the NBA, one of the first to receive major playing time in the league.  He only played with the Kings for a season, but they did make the playoffs that year.

HOW TO VOTE:
Voting is done via the comment section.  To vote, simply add a comment with the name of the person you would like to vote for. Feel free to explain your vote if you wish, or not.  If you are a lurker who doesn't post much, this could be a good opportunity to create an account (it is super easy and completely free) and start interacting with the community.  Voting ends at midnight (Pacific Time) so get your comments in before then.  Any votes after that will not count. You also may not switch your vote after you have voted.

When voting feel free to use any criteria you wish in your evaluation, but only take into account a player's career as a Sacramento King.  If a player you want to vote for isn't on the poll, feel free to mention him in the comments to be added.

Please Explain: Top Hat

When I first started lurking around here I didn’t know who Top Hat was… eventually I saw some weird photoshopped Landry pic that let me know, but I never figured out why he has that name.

Thanks 5thMookie! But… I don’t think that explains where Top Hat came from… just random weidness from the Jedi dude?

Jim Jackson

While Landry was a far superior meme, Jackson was the more important player, and for a much better team.

Very sad story that.

I believe he’s currently in jail and has been for the last few years.

Donte Greene

How can you have Omri on the list and not Donte?

by Kfan in Korea on Oct 13, 2011 4:42 PM PDT reply actions

I love Donté

but he’d be by far the worst player on the list to date.

9.6 PER, 6.3 PPG, .406 FG%, 2.3 RPG, .7 APG in 17.4 MPG (200 Games Played).

In terms of total Win Shares, Donté is 97th all-time, behind guys like Justin Williams, Bill Wennington and Mike McGee. In terms of Win Shares per 48 minutes he’s 100th.

He’ll get on this list eventually, but it won’t be for anything he’s done on the court, where he’s been pretty terrible for the most part, at least statistically. I think there are several players still that deserve consideration before Donté, and yes, I think Omri is one of them.

Players that will likely go ahead of Donté (at least on the list, and this isn’t in order):
*Randy Brown
*Kenny Thomas (Even though I will never vote for him)
*Spencer Hawes
*Jim Les
*Travis Mays
*Mike McGee
*Derek Smith (another person I will never vote for)
*Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
*Vinny Del Negro
*Dennis Hopson
*Vernon Maxwell
*Rory Sparrow
*Andres Nocioni
*Anthony Bonner
*Ed Pinckney
*Rod Higgins
*Samuel Dalembert

I may put Donté in before some of those guys *cough*Thomas/Smith*cough*, but I feel all of the above have much better arguments for the list other than Donté. Feel free to make an argument for him though to try to convince me and I might listen if you make some good points (aside from him setting up the Sacramento charity game, which I’m already considering in his favor).

Of course. I vote for who I want. And you list who you want, but it's also my perogative to question why you have a guy on your list that has played 27 games for the Kings

Donté has played 200 games. Hell, why is Landry on your list over Pinkney and Del Negro and Brown. I guess i just value longevity much more than you do.

by Kfan in Korea on Oct 14, 2011 4:49 AM PDT up reply actions

Ahem
When voting feel free to use any criteria you wish in your evaluation

The people want Donté, based on whatever criteria they want.

In most polarizing arguments, the truth is found somewhere in the middle.

by soccerbum26 on Oct 13, 2011 9:34 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Dude

Donte SUCKSSSSSSSS. Sorry for being so brash about it, but straight up Donte’s just not very good. I don’t just bash on the guy for no reason. His inconsistency and his inability to maintain a solid role on this team really just has me counting the days till we either trade him or waive him. I agree with Aykis 100% and honestly i’d even vote for K-9 before i’d vote for “buckets” (lack thereof). But yeah.. Donte = no bueno.

Omri

I dont understand why Landry is getting so many votes. Nice guy, but he played well for half a season.

by MichaelMack on Oct 13, 2011 11:42 PM PDT reply actions

Yay! Someone else voted for Omri!

I thought I was going to be the only one.

With that said, though, I defense of Landry, he was one of the bright spots on a young, basically leaderless team. Adleman didn’t want him traded when he was with the Rockets and Landry filled in quite nicely on the Hornets for the injured David West (who’s one of the Hornet cornerstones and a tough one to replace.) Landry deserves his spot on the list, in my opinion.

Throwing in a vote for Omri

Top Hat’s got this one locked-up (BTW… cool nickname) and the best PER/games played. However, I have a soft spot for the cute spunkiness of Omri.
