Pete Carril No Longer A Kings Assistant Coach, Could Continue As Adviser

PrintGeoff Petrie announced on Wednesday that legendary Pete Carril will not resume duties as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. Carril has an open invitation to serve in an advisory role, but it's not clear whether he will take it.
The Kings lost Mario Elie, Truck Robinson and Otis Hughley from last year's staff. Those two were replaced by former Golden State Warriors coach Keith Smart and recent Kings scout and awesome dude Bobby Jackson. According to reporters at Petrie's presser, the team could replace Carril with an additional coach.
Carril is the creator of the Princeton offense, one of Petrie's mentors, a veritable wizard and possibly the greatest living American.

“Possibly the greatest living American”? Nothing is better than coffee and a danish in the morning with “Coachie” at Bella Bru. If you’ve met Coachie, the memory of his warm smile and “all-knowing” eyes stays with you. How about, “He is the greatest living American”?
He is THE great American.
As it is an insult to Coachie to imply that there are any others who have ever approached that same plane of achievement and existence.

My guess
Coachie’s recent role seems to have been to spend a lot of time around the team’s rookies, teaching them the fundamentals and helping them to stay humble and grounded as they transition from being a star in college to a newcomer on the biggest stage.
As soon as the lockout ended, Coachie was able to get to know the King’s newest player, Jimmer Fredette. Immediately after, Carril calls Geoff Petrie, telling him, “Looks like I’m out of a job this year”.
Coachie just got Jimmered.

I thought Coachie was officially a consultant last year and not an assistant coach
so if he comes back it won’t be that much different than last year.
