Would Gerald Wallace make this a playoff team?
Living in Portland, I get to hear a lot about the Blazers. According to the most recent report, Portland is said to be a 3rd party in a possible three-team deal with Orlando and New Jersey in which the Blazers send out Gerald Wallace and receive little more than draft picks. The thinking here is that the Blazers are looking to unload payroll, commit to Nicolas Batum and have some cap space for the great FA market in 2012.
My thought is this: if the deal with the Magic falls through, would it be in the Kings' best interests to move some draft picks and maybe young/cheap talent for Wallace?
I'm thinking 2012 and 2014 1st round picks and maybe Jason Thompson, Hassan Whiteside and/or Donte Greene for Gerald Wallace. Then the Kings could maybe ditch one of John Salmons or Francisco Garcia to remove the logjam at SF. By trading for Gerald Wallace, you are getting exactly what you would get with AK47, but in a better package.
Remember last year when the talk was about adding a front court player who was better than Evans/Cousins right now? The player doesn't have to be elite, just All-Star or fringe All-Star level. Gerald Wallace is exactly that type of guy. He provides athleticism, rebounding, defense and versatility at the 3 and 4.
If the Kings could pull this off, would they be playoff contenders?

If we add Wallace and he stays healthy, then probably playoffs
But I don’t like giving up 2 first round picks for him, especially since the 2012 draft is stacked. Plus, I think our first round draft picks may be tied up due to the Hickson trade. He and AK-47 are very similar except one is slightly better at passing/shooting and the other is more athletic (both injury prone).
I still think AK-47 is a better option since he would not cost any assets. If we don’t want Salmons or Garcia, we can always amnesty them.
We can't trade any picks until 2017
thanks to the Hickson trade and the protections on the pick that we sent Cleveland.

Which pick did we include?
A first rounder, non lotto that gets less restricted until its nonrestricted in2017?
A right to exchange first rounders?
Or something else?
huh? wha?

I think...
The draft pick is lottery-protected next year, top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014 and top-10 protected from 2015-17. If the Cavs don’t receive the pick by 2017, they will receive a second-round pick.

I like the idea a lot
Perhaps a trade of Salmons / Garcia and Whiteside / Thomas would make it work but other than a salary dump I don’t see what’s in it for the Blazers…
...Watching DeMarcus Cousins’ transformation from large human to immortal kill beast...
Well, we were a play-off team when we had him...so I am guessing he would?

Even if we could trade 2 first round picks, which we can't
GW is not worth 2 first rounders any more than Carson Palmer was. Again, if Portland is looking to she salary you don’t need to give up two first rounders for GW.
It comes down to reality
And it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide
I would willingly trade them our interest in Jamal Crawford.
This.

I’ve always like Wallace. I’d love it if we could pick him up.

I would love to add Wallace
But no way in hell I’d trade two firsts for him. Too injury prone, and he isn’t a perfect fit, merely a good one.
Hey NIP....
….I was curious are the upperbowl seats in the Rose Garden terrible seats? I’m thinking about going down there for the game on the 26th….

I wouldn't say terrible
You can see the floor pretty well assuming you’re in closer half of the upperbowl.
Personally though, the couple times I have sat in the upperbowl, I had a tough time drowning out the red/white/black of the fans on the other side of the arena as I tried to watch the game. My eyes had a hard time focusing on the players on the floor. I know that sounds weird, but I don’t know any other way to describe it. I haven’t heard of anyone else having that problem. My solution was to buy a couple tickets from the 200 level in the corner on Craigslist for about $35 each.
Just being that much closer made the game much more enjoyable and easy to watch. That also happened to be the game the Kings came into the Rose Garden and stunned the Blazers last year behind a 26-point effort from Tyreke Evans and some good defense.
Bottom line, if you’re going to be in the upperbowl, try to get as close to the front as possible so that you can be more on top of the action.

recall it's not quite as steep as Arco but it worked
(however, should note that even at Arco I have only been lower bowl twice)
