Hello all.
This is not a post that is necessarily about the Kings persay, but it does involve our beloved princelings in terms of the overall discussion.
First off, I'd like you to take a moment to consider the current division layout of the NBA, and we'll discuss it after the jump
As it stand, the current NBA division layout is as follows (I have put asterisks next to the teams where comments are warranted):
Atlantic Division
Boston Celtics
New York Knicks
New Jersey Nets (soon to be the Brooklyn Nets, which is great because south Brooklyn is awesome where Jersey City, Newark, and pretty much everything immediately east of Manhattan sucks).
Toronto Raptors*
Philadelphia 76ers
Central Division
Chicago Bulls*
Detroit Pistons
Milwaukee Bucks*
Indiana Pacers
Cleveland Cavaliers
Southeast Division
Atlanta Hawks
Miami Heat
Orlando Magic
Charlotte Bobcats
Washington Wizards*
Pacific Division
Sacramento Kings
Los Angeles [redacted]
Los Angeles Clippers
Golden State Warriors
Phoenix Suns*
Northwest Division
Utah Jazz
Denver Nuggets
Oklahoma City Thunder*
Portland Trailblazers*
Minnesota Timberwolves
Southwest Division
Houston Rockets
Dallas Mavericks
San Antonio Spurs
New Orleans Hornets*
Memphis Grizzlies*
***
The first division we'll re-purpose is the Southwest. New Orleans and Memphis are out. These should be Eastern Conference teams, but since they were franchises that were more west at some point, they are in the West. Not anymore. The Hornets move to the Southeast Division and Memphis moves to the Central Division.
So who replaces them?
OKC and Phoenix.
Well, Who replaces OKC in the Northwest? Who replaces Phoenix in the Pacific?
The Northwest needs to be revamped as well. With OKC leaving, which team replaces them? Well, actually, Portland is moving the the Pacific to replace Phoenix. So we've got to replace them too. Enter Milwaukee and Chicago.
Who replaces them in the Central? Well, Memphis takes up one slot... with Toronto in the other.
Toronto is replaced in the Atlantic with Washington, who is replaced in the Southeast by New Orleans.
These changes may seem arbitrary. but in reality, these changes would save some teams a lot of money on travel as well simplifying process in the logistical sense, making scheduling easier and things of that nature.
So, your new NBA layout is:
Atlantic Division
Boston Celtics
New York Knicks
New Jersey Nets
Washington Wizards
Philadelphia 76ers
Central Division

Toronto Raptors
Memphis Grizzlies
Indiana Pacers
Cleveland Cavaliers
Southeast Division
