funny story
once down in Monterrey, heard a little 3 or 4 year old boy speaking spanglish to his parents when a bunch of seals showed up. The little boy started telling him mom “Look momma, there’s a baby foca and a mother foca.”
(foca is seal in spanish)
Needless to say, every white parent there in the crowd had an absolutely stunned look on their faces thinking the kid was dropping the F bomb.

They've been OK, thanks
It was a rough semester with a lot of things going on. One of my friend’s lost her husband in a car accident. They were newlyweds, having gotten married back in June. It’s so heartbreaking and I’ve just been so sad for her. I had some stuff too, and school was so overwhelming, but we made it through the first semester which is good. I’m enjoying my break thus far :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying your break.
Bur sad to hear about your loss and your friend’s loss. :(((( My condolences to you and your friend; that has to be very hard for everyone. Even in her sadness, I’m sure your friend appreciates having a friend like you to be her sounding board.

Great Win! Go Kings!
"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons

I am so excited about this team
We’re so deep. Hayes played incredibly, Tyreke played great, Thorton played great, Demarcus won us the game. Amazing. Jimmer and Hickson didn’t play well at all, and it didn’t even matter. This team is deep, and has guts.
I’m so excited. I don’t even know what to say.

Good win Kings.
If Cousins takes a big step forward you team could make some noise.
It’s a weird year and youth and depth are more important than ever.

The view from section 219
First, the place was loud. LOUD! The team played with high energy all night, and the crowd responded. Hickson’s two hustle plays were especially appreciated.
Not a lot of puke yellow in the house – so nice not to see.
Isaiah Thomas vs. Kobe Bryant = so full of win. Big credit to Westphal for having the balls to try it.
Speaking of Thomas, this is no one-trick pony. The kid is going to figure out a way to get at least a quarter of action a night.
Salmons first three touches = two shots and one turnover. His defense was nice, and I will grudgingly admit that he made a nice contribution, but I don’t think that this leopard has changed his spots on the offensive side of the ball – they just aren’t giving it to him as often.
Three blocks for “little” Chuck Hayes.
Tyreke did a nice job of running things and staying within himself.
Fredette had one nice run and one rookie run.
Cousins impressed me with his overall composure during a tough night for him.
When he did get T’d up, Thornton let him have it, motioning to the scoreboard.
Oh yeah, Marcus Thornton. Anything that you would like to add, John Hollinger? Someone broke the switch on Thornton, leaving him in permanent beast mode.
Great seeing a bunch of StR alumni before the game – even greater to watch the few Lakers fans in attendance file out quietly with less than a minute left in the game.
The magic number is now 65!

I was in that section tonight at the very top!
The crowd was great. I loved everything about the game. Just perfect.
Completely agree
With the exception of a few Redacted fans who were already trying to use the “16 championships” excuse by the 3rd quarter when they realized they were going to lose.
The start of the game was beautiful. I loved the blackout and glow sticks. I just rewatched on TV and it was flat out amazing.
Just got back from the game
And, aside from the finale last year, probably the best game I’ve been to. The passion is back for the Kings and the Kings/Lakers fan ratio was probably 9.1 instead of 6.4 like last year.
Just got home and I’m watching the game on DVR and just finished watching the Tesla finale video from last year and all my hatred for the Maloofs comes rushing back. I don’t believe these fools for a second and still believe they will snatch this team away from us in a second. Or sabotage efforts to get an arena done.
I hope to god they go bankrupt soon and Burkle somehow takes over.
In fact, the ONLY bad part about being at tonight’s game was when they kept spamming Adrienne Maloof’s shoe website on the big screen. Like anyone in Arco is going to give that thunder c*nt one red cent.
HOWEVER, when they introduced her at courtside, you could hear crickets in that arena. I hope she felt the hate. BAHHHH
Enough anger… Kings look awesome!!! I almost felt bad for Kobe…. almost. He has NO ONE to help him on this shell of a team that is only going to hint at its former glory. I took my best friend to the game tonight (Lakers fan) and had a wonderful time being that obnoxious fan that we are used to seeing from the lakers lol. But he took it well :)
GO KINGS.

Knew it was going to be a bonanza of gifs tonight if the Kings got the win and y'all didn't disapoint
I think Thornton and the rest of our starters really take the burden off of Reke’s shoulders and let Reke be Reke, looked like he was having fun without feeling like he has do everything.
Hayes and Jimmer do something nice for Cousins. Great to hear from section that when DMC was getting pissed that MT23 let him have it and brought him back from the edge. We have two new leaders on the team in Hayes and Thornton which is two more than we had last season.
What a great way to start the season! That is all, gif on!

That was the first time I've ever been to a Kings v. Lakers game
And it was probably the 2nd best game I’ve ever been to (I have the Kings win over the Clippers for the first Here We Stay night beating it by a hair).
Just the most complete game I’ve seen this team play on both ends of the court in about 4 or 5 years. The hustle, the defense, the non-stagnating offense… it was all just great to watch (aside from maybe the free throws).
Everyone who played contributed to the victory in some fashion.
Marcus Thornton… can we sign him to another extension yet? Or at least give him a raise? The man is awesome.
Tyreke really seemed dedicated to defense out there, and he made good decisions with the ball, and definitely looked like he had his explosiveness back. And that block on Fisher… Awesome.
DeMarcus got off to a slow start, but his defense, hustle, and work on the boards in the second half helped win the game.
J.J. Hickson had two hustle plays where he completely won me over. He really provided a nice energy boost to this team.
Jimmer finally looked like a rookie. He did some things well, and others not so well. He looked a bit tentative, but that will go away as he gets more comfortable.
Isaiah Thomas was awesome. From guarding Kobe Bryant, to soaring between Pau and Artest to grab a rebound in the final minute, he was doing a little bit of everything. He will be a rotation player for this team, and for more than spot minutes.
John Salmons did shoot a little much, but his defense was worth it, and it was way better contributions than we’ve gotten from the 3 spot in years.
Chuck Hayes was exactly what we wanted, a tough defensive minded guy who could grab boards and just make the team better while he’s on the floor. He was directing guys on both ends, and really stood out as a leader. Oh and who said he can’t block shots? He had 3 huge ones down the stretch, with the one on Pau being particularly memorable.
I know it’s just one game, but this got me pumped up. If we can play with this type of effort and intensity all year long, we’ll be a good team.

Such a great win! But my favorite part of the game was

I was there
Great that there were so few L fans there …less than 1000 for sure, maybe closer to 500.
Only heard them once or twice.
This could get interesting. Kings have 10 guys who can truly contribute. Knowing Reke DMC and Thornton will be there for most games, all we need is 2 of the other 7 to have a hot night, and they are capable.
I am looking forward to how it all plays out.
Nice volume at the arena , esp at the start and the end.
35 and 31. I'm calling it now. Reke and Cousins 1-2 in most improved award both All-stars. Jimmer leads rookies in scoring, passing and Ole's. Make 2nd round of playoffs and Salmons is not here by seasons end.

Surprisingly
I was surrounded by Lakers fans up at the top of 213. It was annoying at first, but it was great when they started leaving early.

Had 3 or 4 obnoxious Laker's fans in the row behind us...
talking a lot of trash when LA was up 5-1. Funny, the only thing I heard from them after halftime was “man, that score is backwards”
I very nearly turned around and asked them how it felt to be rooting for the second best team in LA.
