Kings Frontrunner to sign Hayes
To a lucrative 1 yr deal? I wouldn't be against saving cap space for next summer, but do we need to spend what we have this way?

I'm loving the conjecture in these articles
Teams have not yet been allowed to talk to players or agents, yet the Kings already have Hayes all but signed.

Not so fast.
I do agree that most if not all is conjecture. But the teams have been allowed since Thursday to speak with agents, just not the players until Monday. So it’s possible there is some truth in this report and others.

How are we gonna get Hayes minutes, when we're already offering Tyson Chandler a max contract?
Riddle me that!

IF we do sign him just IF
Can we like offer a first year like 8 mil probably then 5 or 4 the following years???? I don’t so I thought id ask

it has to match the ascending/descending rules of the contract. I believe it's 4.5% in this instance.
See TZ article on the front page about front-loading MT23's new contract it deals with exactly the same issue
Plot spoiler: The increase is minimal.

There are some interesting bits of information/conjecture in that piece
Sam Dalembert is not expected to sign with the Heat as he can get more money and a longer contract elsewhere.
Especially interesting: Kwame Brown is sought after by at least three teams. And if that doesn’t describe the talent level of this free agency class to a "T’ I don’t know what does. Somewhere, Jon Koncak is smiling.
Here is another juicy bit from ESPN regarding JJ Barea
Barea made $1.8 million last season and he said, "I just want what I deserve.
Like Nenê, it isn’t about the money…

Everyone wants what they deserve unless it's not what they want.

Funny how for so long we haven't had enough quality bigs
And now with Dally, Cousins, JJ, JT and Hayes we are worried we might end up with too many quality bigs.
This is a problem I can live with.
hmmm..
I’m not sure about this “lucrative offer”, the man is probably worth about 4 mil MAX. He’s just a tough guy who can help, not really be that big of a factor to the team. If we can get him, Mbah a Moute, and someone else from the sign n traded Dally I"ll be happy. Oh and MT23 is a no brainer.

I'm good with this as long as the contract is reasonable... it's better than unnecessarily blowing all your cap space with just so-so players
I have a question though, who might be the Kings waiting for in the FA class of 2012?
The problem with this FA class
is that there are only so-so players available, except for a select few. And those few are going to be overpaid, no matter where they go. I’m really starting to think that saving the space for next summer would be smarter, but I feel like management feels like they need to spend this summer to gain some fan support.

Earl
In other ‘breaking’ news Kings are looking to offer a multi-year contract to Earl Boykins. Kings see him him as a quality back up to Tyreke Evans
Can anybody play this breaking news game?
Everyone, take to Twitter. Apparently we just saw Dwight Howard ask Tyreke about good houses in the Sacramento area, preferably close to Jimmer.
This.
Aykis and I
are hammering out an agreement where we can be each other’s source.
Aykis: Hey section, wouldn’t Dwight Howard be great as a King?
section: Yeah, Aykis. It doesn’t have a prayer of happening, but you have to think that the Kings braintrust would love a chance at Howard.
Aykis’ post the following day: “Sources say that the Kings have discussed and would love to add Dwight Howard to the roster.”

Sources also say Dwight would look amazing in a Kings uniform.

Did you see the story two days ago
that the Lakers would NOW be willing to part with Bynum in a Howard trade. I almost fell out of my seat laughing.
Aykis and you need to start some trade rumors that sources say the Kings would now part with JT in a LeBron deal.
I would be willing to part with anyone on this roster for LeBron, Howard or Paul
Except Hassan Whiteside.

Hayes would be an excellent addition
Makes the team better, more experienced, and gives the Bigs a legit mentor. Solid role player who can be trusted on both ends of the floor. Great TEAM player. Also from Northern Cali. Nice to be able to add people to the team who actually like it here.
