That Westphal is feeling the pressure????? The way he reacted after the Bulls game was more than suspicous to me. Even more suspicous is the fact that he's coaching on the final year of his contract and Kieth Smart was brought in as the top assistant coach. Kieth Smart did one hell of a job with the Warriors last season and was removed basically before he started because of an ownership change. I think if the Kings get off to a slow start we will see Kieth Smart as the new Kings coach pretty quick.
Which is why on a night when the Kings loose a game to one of the best teams in the league (coming off a loss no less), Westphal comes down hard on his team. Sure we had an opportunity to win and the Kings had numerous mistakes, but in the third game of the year, with all that's gone on, is it really time for the head coach to slip out at a presser? If we lost to a Toranto or a Bobcat team the way we did then I would be mad, but we lost to the Bulls, who won the most regular season games last season. They are the top defensive team too. We competed hard against them and really the better team won last night. There wasn't that much shame in that. If you want to get mad, then get mad at that terrible second half we played last night in Portland.
And one last thing regarding Westphal. I do not think he's a good coach. I just don't. I don't like how he has three to four different guys acting as a point guard this year. I don't think that is good for consistent offensive flow. I don't think that really helps guys develope. I will give him that he has kept the same starting line up for three whole games so far. If Westphal starts juggling his line-up without injury being the reason again I will go nuts. Westphal is a nice guy, but just ask Sonic fans or Sun fans about what type of coach Westphal is.
