I'm a law student down here in Orange County, and tonight while in sports law class my professor, who is an MLB agent, told me that he had heard from one of the accountants of the Ducks organization that a deal had been "signed, sealed, and delivered" for an NBA team to be playing at the Honda Center starting next season. Needless to say, my heart sank. Admittedly, an MLB agent getting NBA news from an NHL employee isn't exactly ideal for accuracy, but I also don't have any reasons to doubt my professor's credibility as he knows a lot about things that go on in the sports world down here.. I think what gives me hope is that my professor didn't say when this agreement supposedly took place, and it may have occurred prior to the relocation deadline extension.
The questions I pose are, does this hearsay carry any more weight than anything else we already know? Anybody know if an accountant would really know something like this as part of their job?
