Thank you, Jiffy Lube!
Frankly, the process to this point has felt like…well, let’s just say, unlubricated.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen. And for a limited time, every third person who follows me on Twitter (andy_sims) gets a free ice cream cone.
Which I will eat.

Cool incentive idea for people pledging money....
…offer customized bricks that you can have your name on and/or small message (if kept clean like “Hear We Stay”). Based on the amount you pledge you can get a bigger brick. I think that I would donate with that added incentive (I’d donate regardless but thats an added bonus)

Can we ask
Jerry Buss to build us a new arena here?

I also seem to recall someone here saying they bought one just so they could have the message say “Go Kings” on the Lakers building.

I remember seeing that too, thus applying that idea to a more noble cause =)

Ironic the Lakers are our #1 ally

keep your friends close
But your enemies closer. I like that brick idea. I think people would, but a couple mil is chump change for what we need

Hey, even paying for a high-tech scoreboard (about $5mil)
would be a great symbol.

but then again
it costs around $3.5 million for those ribbon ads and the Maloofs paid $2 million in 2008 so there could be flames on the court during pregame introductions

Did it
say Go Sacramento Kings? or just Go Kings?
Just wondering because that arena is also home to the Los Angeles Kings.
Go Sacramento Kings
TheJust wrote that it said “Go Sacramento Kings”.
Yes, I know what you mean though. I went to look for it at Staples and I found many “Go Kings” tiles. At first I thought “awesome!”, but then realized it meant the hockey team. I tried to find it, but there were so many to look through, and they were kind of fading and hard to read. Plus, a big section was blocked off for some reason, so I couldn’t see them all.
put me in, Coach
Yes, customized bricks!
Remember when TheJust told us about how he purchased a 6×6 tile on the hall of fame in front of Staples when they first opened? I went down to Staples a couple of weeks ago to try and find his. It said “Go Sacramento Kings”, but I couldn’t find it because there were probably close to 10,000 tiles by my estimation.
TheJust wrote that it was about $150 for that 6×6 tile. So for about 10,000 of those, that would raise about 1.5 million dollars.

I wonder how we can get this idea to Carmichael Dave so he can test the water?
dont have twitter unfortunately…

It would be nice to create a reward system
Like above mentioned $200 for a stone outside
$1,000 for something
$10,000 you get something bigger.

Yes, different options is a good thing
When I went to Staples to look for TheJust’s tile, they also had bigger donor tiles, probably about 10×10. There were fewer of these, so I’m guessing these must’ve been for a substantially higher donation, perhaps $1000 or more.
Different options for different incomes. But the more the merrier. : )

I was thinking that Google needs their own Arena
And since the Warriors already have Oracle Arena, they should come to their next closet team. The Kings and build an arena!

As expected, a twitter troll insulting anyone who supports here we build
http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23HereWeBuild
http://twitter.com/#!/RatBoyForever
So I've been trying to find a website
Where we can take pledges to keep an official tally of real commitments. What’s the point of all this media exposure if there isn’t a single place to collect everyone’s legitimate pledges? This isn’t going anywhere if it stay on twitter.
So far the most compelling that I’ve found are:
kickstarter.com – but looks like its focussed strictly on creative endeavors
33needs.com
indiegogo.com
startsomegood.com
crowdrise.com
There are others that I found, but these sites looked the most legit. I think all of them make money by charging a percentage of the pledge (like 3-5%), but the pledges won’t be collected until a funding goal is reached. I’m thinking of setting the bar unobtainably high, like $200 mil and setting the deadline as April 17, the day before the deadline to file. That way we can see the number and have the contacts, but avoid the final credit card charge, unless of course $200 mil is raised.
Anyway, can someone help with further researching these sites? I running woefully behind on a bunch of deadlines right now and have to get back to work.
I guess another alternative is for someone to keep a massive spreadsheet, perhaps a shared Google Documents file, with a unique name, contact info, and pledge amount.
Anyone interested in helping with second opinions on these sites?
Is anyone already working on organizing these pledges yet? It’s so disorganized right now, and the media exposure is outpacing the actual movement.
Where else should I post this?
I'd call someone, a non-profit for instance
who collects donations on-line and ask for opinions on good sites.
The difference is between pledges and actual donations.

Susan G Komen Foundation...
My only experience has been during the Race For the Cure, but their site always seemed to do terrific job with the donations, from what I recall.
by RampagingMice on Mar 30, 2011 4:38 PM PDT up reply actions
That's what I've been trying to narrow down to
Finding a system that will record pledges, but not take donations. At the least some of those sites I found will take pledges and not charge you unless the funding goal is met.
did Seattle do anything like this?
maybe if we keep fighting, and showing how bad we want the kings to stay; the maloofs will realize they would be foolish to leave such a die hard fan-base for a shmucky, fair-weather, apathetic ass area.
Yeah.
A few fans organized “”http://www.saveoursonics.org/" target="new">Save our Sonics". They were better organized too.
As far as the Maloofs? I think it’s clear they don’t get it.

Benefit Concert?
Let’s get Tesla, Cake, Deftones…(any other Sacramento bands ?) to throw a concert with proceeds going to an arena.
If not that, how about raffle tickets, auctions (anyone want to bid on an evening with Whitey or Phantom?)….we could all buy collective lottery tickets….
