Rick Adelman, who led the Rockets to their only playoff series win in 17 years and a franchise record 22-game winning streak, will not return as Rockets coach, a person with knowledge of the decision said on Monday....

...Rockets assistants Elston Turner and Jack Sikma and former Rockets player Mario Elie, who has been an assistant with the Kings, Warriors and Spurs, will interview for the position, according to a person with knowledge of the process.

There might be a chance

But it would require the Maloofs to be out of the picture.

Would hate to lose Mario Elie over this.

But, on the otherhand, I cannot fault an assistant coach for accepting a head coaching job. Maybe they should look at Reggie Theus. I bet he would be interested.

Elie is replacable.

You want your assistants getting hired for outside jobs. It creates the perception that you’re doing something right. Even more so when the team that your assistant won a combined 49 games over 2 seasons.

Aykis mentioned this in another thread

But I hope he hooks up with a quality club next year so he can get a ring. Like Aykis, my personal choice would be Miami. Don’t think Spolstra will get it done.
