Well done, Otis.

He's up now
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
He didn't say much earlier when he was with The Rise Guys
Hoping for some more info
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Will this conference include the Kings?
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
KJ described schools as "ground zero" for gang violence prevention.
Dude just can’t stop dropping bombs.
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."
-Jerry Reynolds
I hope he answers the question about the reliability of monies pledged by business owners
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
I think that was the first question from the local media
And he decided to make his statement first instead.

He mentioned "people" (I presume BOG members) did not realize Sac is a top 20 market.
That is good news.

In other words
It gave them more to think about
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
Doesn't sound like he expects to have an answer to financing question until the study is complete
Burklemaniac
He just said that he'll be showing the NBA a "clear path" to building an arena.
I’m sure he’ll have SOMETHING—Lord knows what—to say about financing.
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."
-Jerry Reynolds
The financing involves
Setting up a not-for-profit entity to finance the arena through shares issued.

On track to FINISH arena feasibility study by end of May.
NBA found it promising.
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."
-Jerry Reynolds
Things he wants to show the NBA
1. Market is viable
2. Corporate dollars are sufficient
3. Introduce NBA to community leaders
Burklemaniac
It truly feels like KJ is positive of us having a better chance now
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
On his approach to the talks with the NBA this week:
“We know what the key threshold issues are for them, and we’re going to show them the best of Sacramento.”
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."
-Jerry Reynolds
Talked to the Maloofs a couple days ago
and reiterated he wants them here
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
KJ says he's not affiliated with the petition movement in Anaheim.
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."
-Jerry Reynolds
But he is following it with interest, obviously.

Regarding "eye-rolling" comment.
“It will be different this time” – Mayor
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
On Stern's "eye-roller" comment:
KJ says he told Stern things would be different this time around. We have a great team assembled (ICON/Taylor) and we have the political will. We need to give the public options about financing, though.
"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."

I believe it was the Webber group joinging with Burkle?
"For five decades (and counting), these fans have been blessed with West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Seven of the 15 best players ever. At some point, the gravy train will end. The Lakers will bottom out like the Knicks did last decade, submarined by bad moves, poor signings and unlucky drafts. Their fans will flee in droves. Jack will pass away. The buzz will be gone. That's how the NBA works -- in a 30-team league, you can't always get lucky, not even if you're a big-market team with deep pockets. I don't know if that day is three years off or 30, but it's coming." Bill Simmons
I think the reporter mentioned Burkle/VanDusen/Webber
And my guess is KJ was implying that there is a general misunderstanding of that group’s makeup. But not entirely sure.
Burklemaniac
I think the land swap
he never had a lot of hope all those parties could be made to cooperate (read Cal Expo).
It was just too smart a solution – but also gave too many voices the opportunity to say no.

I know the Maloofs are "evil"
but KJ is playing it right by showing support to keep them here too
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Interesting
If the Kings leave, Burkle becomes a more viable option.

Revenue streams may be ready by Thursday for the NBA
That’s key
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
Did he say that? I missed it.
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
Well he said ICON would be ready to present that
He mentioned both the May 2nd deadline and Thursday in the same sentence
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
I wonder if the includes the financing
"I think this can be a good line-up for us and we’ll see how it works." - PW on replacing Casspi and Beno with JT and Head in the starting lineup (Nov. 18, 2010 Sac Bee)
He referred to the financing as a gap in funding
They will put together a financing picture that illustrates the guaranteed funding streams along with whatever gap there is that needs to be made up. I assume they will also have suggestions on how to obtain that addition funding through means that do not require a vote, thus no new tax on income or sales tax, etc.

IMO
KJ is playing this perfect right now. Not sure what he can do better.
Bravo!
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
I think so as well.
i’m really fighting optimism but he’s making it difficult for me. Go KJ!
HERE WE STAY
THIS IS OUR TEAM
It's a very tricky game he's playing
got a long way to go and need to keep fingers crossed that no free money opens up down south in the next two weeks

Like the $ KJ put on the table
not $7 mill in corporate partnerships
but the $billions in Burkle….
Prediction: Amick will be the first to report on the BOG decision before its made
I don’t think we will have to wait until May 2nd. This is entirely speculation. The man just has a way of obtaining Kings related information like no one else.

Amick is awesome
and a great guy to talk to too. No ego, just another guy. This whole process has given me the chance of doing a lot of different things but meeting Amick has been one of the highlights
"Children want what they want when they want it." ... Andy Sims
I like how
he kept mentioning he wanted the Kings AND the Maloofs to stay. Not just “we want the Kings to stay.”
I don't think I could be more optimistic right now
like many have already stated, it rides on the new ESC. KJ has done a great job at buying enough time in order to present the arena plan. We are a feasible city and the Maloofs financial struggles coupled with their move being to a pro sport congested city has given us a window.
If the Kings stay one more year due to whatever reason they will stay in Sac for good. Thanks for stepping up everyone. And make sure you show the love to the people who made it possible no matter how small their contribution.

I'm a little worried about not having financing for this arena plan in place,
but I’m still pretty freaking optimistic, all things considered.
KJ for president! He’s mastered being a mayor.
In these times, you have to be an optimist to open your eyes when you awake in the morning.

He's my hero for now
I’ll give final judgement after the regional leaders meeting tomorrow and what he can wring out of them.

where is the money coming from?
Did KJ say he couldn’t talk about it? Say he has it in place? Or say there’s no money yet for the arena?
