Football is king in the south
Having been to Texas and Oklahoma during football season several times, there is nothing more important (year round) than football to them. It’s a priority, they vote yes and they turn out some of the best football players every year.
WHAT ABOUT THE BOOKS???

South isn't in the same situation
I have family in education in the south and I’m a teacher here and we are in completely different boats. They aren’t facing anything like what we are in this broken state. They rely a lot on oil revenue for education, which is doing quite well and we rely on taxation for education. Money isn’t that big of a problem for them right now. Maybe we should drill offshore to build an arena! JK!
I'm probably digressing, but
Money may or may not be an issue per se in context, but the quality of education is far below most of the rest of the country. Being a product of a Louisiana public high school and then having attended community college in Sac, then Cal Berkeley, there’s a huge gap.
Another reason I’m not willing to raise children here, charter school or no.

just letting you know
technically speaking, this particular school is actually one of the best ones in the state of Texas and in a pretty high property tax paying area (for Texas at least). Not sure if this is quite “Friday Night Lights” or not.

something even more astonishing than news of a high school buidling a $60 million stadium:
high schoolers have owned the Sacramento Kings for the past 12 years

Too much credit!
I teach fifth and I think high schoolers is giving them too much brain power. We’ve been owned by 3rd graders for over a decade!
Did they
threaten to move their high school to Oklahoma?
