Casspi said his intent wasn't to cause problems and that he will continue to work hard and wait his turn to play.

"I haven't played in a while and coach came up to me and told me he's going in different direction – and he's not going my direction," Casspi said. "So I'm not mad at nobody or trying to cry about not playing, but it is what it is.

"So hopefully I'll be in a better situation next year."

Wespthal said he understands Casspi's frustration. Casspi has started 27 games this season so not playing isn't easy. But Francisco García has been the most consistent starter at small forward. Donté Greene is also playing well.

"He's saying the truth the way he sees it," Westphal said. "I don't agree with in particular his statement that he wants to go to a team where team play is important. Maybe that was lost in translation but that's kind of a ridiculous statement."

Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie said he hadn't heard from Casspi, and acknowledged it has to be a frustrating time for the player.

But with five games left there isn't a pressing need to do anything with Casspi, who is under contract for next season. Petrie said any talk of what to do next season is "premature."

"Ultimately the season will be over and there will be a lot of discussion about what needs to be done with the roster," Petrie said.

I bet Petrie has big plans for Casspi.

I bet Petrie is waiting until he sees where we end up in the lottery, and what changes in the new CBA

He has no idea what the new Salary Cap will be. Or, what it’s going to cost to resign Dalembert and Thornton. Or, who’s going to be available in the Draft.

Or who's going to be the coach

Dunking Dutchman - betting that Omri will have at least 12 games with 85% TS% this season.

Unfortunately the way the team is finishing the season

and the fact that Westphal’s contract has already been extended, he might return to start the season.

Although if thing start out poorly, another mid-season coaching swap would be a disaster. My only hope is there is someone so good that they can’t let him get away.

I think some people regarded Casspi as near untouchable

It was the perception that Omri was going to be a lights out shooter for the future using the begining of his rookie year as the true measure of his talent. With another year past I think that ship has sailed.

We need a 3 and D type of guy who doesn’t turn the ball over and be good for 15 a night. The addition of MT23 has reduced the need for the future SF to be an elite scoring threat. It wouldn’t hurt but because of MT23 defense has greater emphasis as requirement to get playing time.

I hope Casspi watches tape of battier and do his best to turn himself into a clone.

I don't think the ship has sailed

a lot of guys really come on in thier third year. But I think it’s clear we’ll be looking at SF free agents or trades – and Casspi has some value.

It's a near guarantee that Casspi won't be traded until Draft Time at the earliest...

….just because that’s usually when trades get done after the season finishes.

Can you do trades during a lock-out?

Was it done before?

Do you mean during the Draft? Because the lockout doesn't start until July 1st when the season ends.

No lttg.

You can’t do a trade during a lockout. I only mention the draft as the first likely time Omri will be traded because that’s really when trades after the season happen. Teams don’t usually make trades until draft time (or a week earlier like the Kings-Sixers did a year ago) because there are less teams and thus less availability to make the best potential trade a team can get in that scenario.

Think about this
Casspi has started 27 games this season so not playing isn’t easy

Obviously you’ve had ample chance to earn that spot, but you didn’t. Deal with it. This half-assed “apology” sounds about as sincere as Chris Webber wishing David Kahn “good luck”
