How can the Esteemed Mr. Burkle factor into the equation of procuring financing for an arena? Is he able to buy into the team as a minority owner, with obvious designs on owning the team at a later date? Can be be made a separate partner to the Kings/Maloofs? Would that be possible? He brings in serious cash, a strong network of other serious cash. not to mention, if he really, truly wants the Kings to remain here, he could build the damn thing himself. Call it Burkle Center, Burkle Balance Pavillion, anything you want.
The bigger picture remains, for many of us, how long until the Family Maloof is forced (either by The Right Honorable Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Stern, or their own shoddy business dealings) to divest themselves of the team? Will Mr. Burkle still be interested in being part of the team and community if it takes a year or more for them to reach that point? I don't want to pin all our hopes on Mr. Burkle, but there isn't exactly a plethora of multi Billionaire types running around Sacramento clamoring to buy the team. I thank the Maloofs for bringing the good times to Arco and Sacramento. I am forever in their debt for that. But the underhanded, secretive, shady, and down right wrong way they handled the whole relocation issue had to have eliminated any real good will they had remaining in this town. I don't blame them for exploring their options. But please, don't insult our intelligence by pretending thie just started, or that you are truly happy to be here any longer. It is disingenuous, shameful and downright dirty pool. There is clear evidence that they have been talking with Anaheim for a good long while. This would lead most clear thinking Kings fans, that they have been longing to move for a good long while. Most likely before their current financial situation became, well, their current financial situation.
Not to go too emotional, but this team belongs here. Not Anaheim, where nobody gives a rats ass about this team. Witness the overwhelming response here, and the vastly underwhelming response from ticket buyers in the OC. We don't want the Hornets (Chris Paul, yes please) to be a substitute for our Kings.
And now, I must return to work. Got to rest up before I go home to the madhouse that is my life.
Good Day Sirs and/or Madams.
