But who's the veteran help gonna be from Houston?

Scola? Who else meets the criteria? And just put the Kmart speculation to rest now.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly

Lowry’s really the only player on their roster that looks appealing AND is a veteran.

by Smills9133 on May 19, 2011 8:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Agreed - it would call for a 3rd team

Kyle Lowry is the only guy I see on the Rox roster that would bring the Kings some of what they are looking for. The likely scenario would have to be one of the Rox young guys going to a team looking to unload veteran salary, with said veteran salary coming here.

Kings send #7 pick to Houston
Houston sends #14 pick to Sac, Terrence Williams to Atlanta
Atlanta sends Marvin Williams to Sac.
Or something like that.

we have more cap room than anyone. Why would we trade away assets for him? Plus, SnT happen in JULY, the draft is in JUNE.

forgot he was a FA

Dont particularly want him anyway. Just my knee jerk reaction. Trying think of teams that need the shed salary. Detroit, Charlotte, Philly.

Not just a putrid fit, but a putrid player

Lets be honest. Why do we want the dregs off other teams? He’s the Hawks version of Donte Greene, in terms of underachieving and failed expectations, only more expensive.

I second your BARF.

Personally

that sounds like a steal for us… like jumpboi i only want to acquire iggy this offseason. If we can’t do that this move sounds great. Lowry is finally playing very well, and we’d still have a 14th pick, and in a weak draft thats pretty much just as good as a 7th pick. What does Lowrys contract look like?

I don't see why Houston gets rid of Kyle Lowry

He’s quietly becoming one of the better young Point Guards (on both ends of the floor) in the league, and is locked up for a fair price.

by Aykis16 on May 19, 2011 9:06 PM PDT up reply actions

No problem

Technically he didn’t “lose” the starting spot as he never had it, which pissed him off. The coach told him Lakovic was going to start because he’d been with the team longer but that Udrih would still get plenty of minutes. Considering Udrih is probably the best Slovenian player in the world, I’d probably be a bit pissed too.

And Lakovic backs up Rubio in Europe.

Major burn on Beno and he was pissed. Here is his quote on this from my interview with him during training camp.

I’m not going to go to Slovenia and play behind Lakovic. Lakovic is basically a back-up point guard now in Barcelona behind Rubio. He’s a great player, I’m not saying he’s not a great player but he’s had eight years and he’s had a chance to do something as the starting point guard, now let’s change something.

Seriously

Some people thought he was being unprofessional but I think he was justified. That’s a huge fuck you to Beno. Lakovic was with the team longer because he had more time to be with the team. Beno’s an NBA player that plays 82 games a god damn year

Note:

The wording on this doesn’t suggest that the Rockets have talked to Sacramento, just that they’d like to move up, and Sam points out that the Kings probably would trade their pick for some veteran help.

The only problem is, I don’t see what veterans on Houston the Kings would like as they really only have Lowry (not for sale), Kevin Martin (Been there, done that), and Scola (who will be 31 and a half by the time next season starts, people forget he came into the NBA at age 27)

by Aykis16 on May 19, 2011 9:04 PM PDT reply actions

Exactly.

Sam is filling column space with this comment. I don’t see any substance to it. No one on the Rockets roster is all that appealing. Scola is a good player, but not a good fit next to DeMarcus. I like Patrick Patterson, but not enough to swap picks.

Some other nice gems in this article besides the above note

Like the fact that Kawhi Leonard’s outstretched hands are almost a Foot long and the only one with bigger hands is Center Greg Smith.

Then there is the fact that Kemba’s stock is falling with some because he only measured out to be 6’1, which he says he’s not worried about.

Also Jimmer is participating in as many drills as needed in order to try to show teams that he can and will play defense, something that I like. He knows what the biggest perception of him is and he’s out to discount it if he can.

I dig me a flier on Greg Smith

in the 2nd round, if he makes it that far.

by Smills9133 on May 19, 2011 9:34 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm surprised that that is making Kemba's stock drop

I mean, 6’1 is pretty good considering all the talk about his lack of size. There are plenty good PG’s that are that size. I thought that it was a pretty average size. I was worried that he would be Sub-6’. I mean, Chris Paul is 6’1 in the same size.

I didn't think there was anyone who thought he was taller than 6'1'',

so news about his stock suddenly dropping is a bit odd.

I take slight issue

with this headline: “Walker’s stock falling?” Because it seems like he’s tossing it out there as blind speculation without any merit. While its true that Derrick Rose and Westbrook are 6’3", Kemba Walker has been less than 6’3" all his life. Teams and scouts have known this all along. Why all of the sudden is his value dropping? No quotes from any sources or official measurements included.

Uncharacteristically weak s*ht from Sam.

I don't think measurements are in yet

And if Kemba measures out a 6’1" that will help his draft stock. He’s listed a 6"0.

Makes sense...

As others have stated, Sam isnt saying that there is a deal in the works by any means but just that if the rockets are looking to move up then Sac could be a partner as they have been reported to be looking to possibly move the pick.

Now while I dont see them getting a true “Veteran” in any deal with Houston unless there is a third team (no way they move Scola that I can imagine) I wouldn’t object to a deal for a young guy if the Kings are interested in someone they expect to be there at 14 anyhow. I mean heck if the Rockets fall in love with a guy at the 7 and want to throw in Chase or something Id be willing to step down assuming Petrie really likes someone at 14.

Heck if nothing else it would give the Kings another young guy on a good contract to use in deals for the pricey vets.

This off-season really will be interesting I just wish they could just get the CBA wrapped up so we can really get things going!

Iggy stats

Iggy stats – Career averages

PPG – APG – RPG – FG% – 3%
15.6 – 4.8 – 5.8 – .462 – .323

Who we gonna get better out there with what we have that’s not another rookie which we don’t need, that will bring defense and Veteran leadership/presence to the Kings..

Oh and btw way Lets just look at Thornton for comparison

PPG – APG – RPG – FG% – 3%
113.6 – 1.7 – 3.2 – .443. – .371

Here’s big thing on Iggy look at the asst rate. That’s what we need more on this team then anything IMO better and more passing especially if we aren’t gonna be running any pick and rolls
