I was suprised he said we need to come out of hibernation reguarding free agencey
It would be really nice to get a better back up point, and a sf (S.Battier),really I would be really excited to resign Daly,Thorton.i’m just tired of seeing the ball die in Evans hands. What really tic’s me is when he dribbles the clock down and does nothing and passes it to someone with 2 sec’s.I’m sure his teamates hate it to,he just kills our half court offense.I really hope he improves that and his jumper .Hopefully a new coach will help him unfortunatly I think we are stuck with Westphall.
Really tho all these problems are nothing compared to the barrel of the relocation gun we have been staring down for months.10am is almost here.

Battier is done. Want no part of signing him.
Would like to resign both Sammy and Marcus, at the right price. As for you thoughts on Tyreke, I don’t think you cleared this with the group-think masters. Don’t you know that:
The rules are, It’s fair game to insult anyone as long as they aren’t posting on this board. Or if they are Tyreke Evans.

Serious?
Battier is done. Want no part of signing him.
Did you see him yesterday against OKC. He had some good defense, solid offense and helped Memphis to another first-game upset.
I think the bigger question is, will he leave Memphis, and if so, for how much money and is he willing to go to a rebuilding team?

I tend to agree.
Not my top prospect for the Kings. I thought Conley, Gasol, ZBo were extraordinarily in game 1.
Gasol and ZBo
killed the Thunder inside. Despite some solid play by Ibaka, Perkins and Collison.

I really enjoyed this article.
Funny that GP says we should go for another ball handler, and another big. I would have thought he wanted a 3.
I think our situation at the 3 is much better than many on this site give us credit for.

I think it's because we have a lot of people who can play the 3
But of course, having a very good 3 is a different thing. I think it is our most inconsistent position.
But still, our big rotation is Cuz, Sammy, JT, D-block, and Hassan. It’s still more solid than the 3, in my opinion. Of course, that assumes we can get Sammy re-signed.
His comment about adding to the frontcourt seems to be a hint that they might not resign Sammy

Maybe he's too defensive for GP's taste
GP’s fatal flaw if you ask me. He really loves him some soft offensive centers

With this, I agree
Donte has to show that he can be a consistent defender and hit an occasional shot, Cisco has to show that he can stay healthy and avoid the stupid mistakes a veteran shouldn’t make, and Omri has to show that he can provide instant offense, rebounding and energy off the bench.
If Tyreke, MT and DMC keep developing offensively, the starting SF should be a glue guy, willing passer and good defender. Making shots at a good clip is a bonus, but not a must. Just enough to keep defenders honest is good enough, IMO.

If pooh grows 3 inches in the offseason we will be fine

That's why I think he was hot to trot for Perry Jones.
Could play him at SF and he can run the point. Seriously.

I was thinking about a point forward too
but I don’t think Perry Jones is a good enough shooter to make it work.
Maybe we can take Mike Miller off Miami’s hands since he seems to have such a small role on the team. For a second rounder.

We were 3rd in the league in turnovers
our guards give up the ball to a big at the top of the circle just to swing it from side to side and when they get the slightest amount of pressure on the dribble. We’ve needed ball handling since befor we drafted Evans. Isn’t that why have the people on this site wanted Rubio? We have NO ONE that can run a decent Pick & Roll, and most of our guards don’t even know how to use a screen properly. They either fail to wait long enough for the screener to get proper position and come to a complete stop. And, they don’t cut hard enough off the Screens that they do get. And, Beno only uses the screen to drive left so he can pull up at the left elbow for his Stop & Pop.
I’m sure that there are those who believe that Evans will become the next Russel Westbrook any day now. And, maybe he will, but in the meantime I’d prefer that we actually had someone with the ball handling skills to beat the double team and dribble in and out of the paint while trying to create a mismatch or force a double team.
Also GP’s comment was
We’ll have to look to fill out our roster with another frontcourt player of some kind.

I read Frontcourt player of some kind as including a SF. But, he may be expecting not to be able to resign Sammy, also.

I like this part..
“I think we need another creator, ballhandler. We need some more leadership on the court, either by the form of maturity or addition to the roster. Certainly we need to try to improve our three-point shooting, which fell off from a year ago. … We’ll have to look to fill out our roster with another frontcourt player of some kind.”
So, he’s looking for a veteran PG that can handle the ball, pass and shoot 3’s, primarily. If nobody’s available, he’s looking to get a backup C/PF.
FA PGs available that meet his criteria:
Jamal Crawford
Jose Juan Barea
Aaron Brooks
I think creator is the key word here
And at least two of those guys don’t meet that criteria. Using this opportunity to drop my new man-crush, Kemba Walker, into the discussion. Creator, ballhandler, leadership, 3-point shot.
You think GP is taking a long term look with Reke at the 3?

Who knows what GP and Westphal are thinking.
Crazier things have happened (JT at the 3 lol). Assuming Tyreke stays in the backcourt, I think a rotation of him, Kemba, and Thornton has the potential to be really good for a very long time.
I was talking about FA PGs
Of course we could pick up a PG out of the draft, but there’s no guarantees that Kemba Walker would even be available when we pick.
Of course
I was kind of expecting to get hammered for a suggestion, like always. I was looking at assist totals for each player. I was using the criteria of at least 3 assists, at least 4 years experience, at least 35% from the 3 pt line (either career or last season). If you want to look for someone who has 5+ assists, AND everything else above, you’re out of luck, because there’s nobody like that on the FA market. I was just giving the assumption of who Petrie might look for, given the players available.
Again, I believe that the frontcourt includes the SF position.

Yup

Is he?
Why? And will PW share your opinion?
Take into account that you probably will see Tyreke at the 3 this year, and PW even used JT at the 3.
