Not suprised at all
This is the intangible I was telling Sims about on another post. I don’t know how much of his (lack of defense) defense was talent vs. coaching, although I live about 15 minutes from BYU and watched every game. And we will have to wait and see how he does with NBA level talent guarding him. But I can say for a fact that this kid has more guts than any college player I have ever seen. he does not back down from anything. This is not QD, this is much more Danny Ainge mentality. If he is physically capable, he is going to be a serious menace in the NBA. I think after his workouts he could rise from late lottery to the 6-9 range.

One thing I like
is how he’s making an effort to state that he’s going to participate in as many workouts as possible, with an emphasis on showing teams that he’s a better defender than people think.
I think that’s a good sign that he knows what the perception is out there, and for better or for worse (if he is a bad defender), he’s going to try to prove doubters wrong.

Yep
He could kick back knowing that he’s going late lottery or at worst mid-late first round. But that is not the kind of guy he is. Regardless of his other faults, he is a competitor. He’s either going to show that the MWC made him look better than he is or that BYU’s scheme positioned him as one dimensional. Just as an aide, a lot of people seem to be thinking he is just a chucker. That’s not true. he really does have excellent ball handling skills and averaged over four assist on a team where he was required to take the lion’s share of the thoughts.

I'd love to have Fredette at 1, Thornton at 2, and Evans at 3 al a B. Roy.
I think that lineup could strike some fear.

With Evan as a point forward
I could dig it, and I am not a fan of moving him to the 3 at all usually, but that line up would be dangerous offensively, especiall when you ad in DMC
Can't wait for October

I stated this in another thread and was consequently ridiculed quickly thereafter.
I love that line-up in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. Thornton and Jimmer are both gutsy shooters.
you said you would prefer that over Evans, Thornton, and Iggy
hence the differing of opinions

With the game on the line
20 seconds left, I’d love to have an interview with Jimmer.
WTF?
Dunking Dutchman
Interviews tell you more about how a kid will handle that kind of pressure
than simply watching shooting drills. Heart, guts and killer instinct with a never-say-die attitude are the attributes that translate to clutch time bucket making. Some of the greatest shooters of all time crimple in the clutch, whereas certain average shooters just thrive in that moment. Interviews can help you understand better what you’re getting there a Peja or a Horry?
If the Kings draft Jimmer
can he replace Grant?
