One of my favorite guys for us at 35 is Isaiah Thomas

and while he’s short (5’10 in shoes) he had some great athletic measurements, with a 38.5" vert, as well as finishing among the tops in Lane Agility and 3/4 court sprint.

Plus he’s 12th in the nation in Assists last year as well as carrying the scoring load for his team so that’s nice.

The athletic measurments are from last year

But they shouldn’t be too much different. They new measurements will be released later today.

Most of them

But there are a couple players that were measured previously, like Thomas. The body measurements like height and wingspan were done yesterday, and the athletic measurements like vertical and speed drills are going to be done today.

I'm all about Jeremy Tyler in the second

He has the talent to have been the #1 pick in this class. If he fails miserably then we basically lost nothing anyway.

Did anyone see truth and rumors on espn.com today?

It had a little blurb about a possible Kings-Rockets deal…swapping the 7 for the 14 and a veteran player. I think if this happens that the Kings could probably target Chris Singleton. I like his defensive ability and his length..he could be a good fit at small forward.

by Fairwood on May 20, 2011 12:33 PM PDT up reply actions

That's from Sam Amick

And what he really said was that Houston is looking to trade up, and the Kings could be a possibility because they’re looking to acquire veteran help.

NOT that the Kings-Rockets had talked about a swap.

OK

I dont mind the idea of the Kings moving back to target a guy like Singleton. I liked what I saw from him at FSU and I like what Im seeing at the Chicago draft camp. In a weak draft such as this, the kings could do worse than drafting a guy like Singleton who could contribute right away with his defensive abilities, and possibly develop into a started as he develops.

salary cap relief is for acquisitions (recieving players) not trading

The Kings are cap space heavy and they may be able to trade a Cisco or Beno but a certain part of me is surprisingly uncomfortable with parting with either of these two (Beno for consistency on the offensive end, Cisco for the locker roon and chemistry)

by betweentheeyes on May 20, 2011 8:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Dude...

are you trying to be argumentative? Teams trade players for jack squat just so they don’t have to pay their salaries. I’m not saying Granger or Iggy would be traded for nothing, but I believe we have enough without our #7 pick in a “weak draft” to get somebody. If anything, our 2012 pick would be better even if it’s at #12 or 13.

Ok, historically does this mean ANYTHING

I know small hands are bad (see Brown, Kwame) as they make catching the ball and ball control harder.

But is there any positive association with very large hands and being a good player. Whiteside I believe had the biggest hands last year.

Not trying to be difficult, just genuinely wondering if this is ultimately anything more than an interesting factoid.

What?

Might give you a better standing reach, but it’s already incorporated into standing reach. So does it really help to have more hand than arm within that statistic?

But at what point is that overkill

Most NBA players have big enough hands to grab a ball one handed.

If hand size is too small = red flag

But with bigger hands it’s not like they can grab a ball half-handed.

From past draft data, do players with abnormally large hand (for a NBA player) have more success?

Kanter, hes a smart guy learned English in 7 months (according to him) hes got great hands and is a very skilled big who is in great shape and hasn’t even played in a year.

I’d take him number 1.

Him with JT and big Cus would be a great 3 man big rotation. I’m afraid Sammy will want too much this being his last long contract.

Evans, Thornton, vet FA, DMC and Kanter could be a real nice starting 5 in a couple years.

I bet he'd be comparable to about 90% of all pg ever in the league.

He’s definately not small.

Not really.

It’s all about hand size this year.

Only one of note imo is Paul

Shorter guys have a hard time making it.

I like what i saw out of Teague in the playoffs,

could just have been a hot streak though, and Collison has a bright future.

by wtfaldavis on May 20, 2011 12:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Right. I think that came out wrong

What I mean is, Paul is the only star on that list. The others are good though.

Nothing wrong with good.

Aaron Brooks and Conley Jr are good. Steve Nash is pretty good. I think Kemba has a chance to be better than good.

Nash is great

Yeah i know

just saying people look into height way to much. Plenty of 6-footers who do just fine playing in the league. I’m not expecting Kemba to be Steve-Nash-great but he can be our pass-first starting PG. He was a true PG is whole life until last year when he no choice but taking a lot of shots for a young UConn team. It seemed to work out…

Collison really started sucking last year

about halfway through the season.

when you say last year,

are you referring to his rookie year when he averaged 16.9 ppg (45.2 FG%, 43.8 3p%, 87.7 FT%), 3.3 rpg, 7.9 apg, 1.3 spg in just under 36 minutes when some player named Chris Paul was injured? Or his 1st complete year of starting as a PG leading a team to it’s first playoffs since 2002?

by shlyank on May 20, 2011 1:06 PM PDT up reply actions

my bad, those are his numbers through the first 15 games he started

real stats: 37 games, 18.8 ppg, 48%FG, 42%3PTFG, 85%FT, 9.1 apg, 1.4 spg, 4tpg

by shlyank on May 20, 2011 1:12 PM PDT up reply actions

No I meant last year. His 2nd year.

When he averaged 13-2-5 in 79 games. That sucks.

All I know is this:

As far as this site goes, Fredette is the new Rubio. Two years ago is really the last time I recall such fervor. The only difference is that if we don’t pick him, I don’t think we’ll get a 7500 word essay from pookey consisting solely of the F -word. A few short paragraphs of “dad blame it,” maybe, but it should be mild as American cheese.

I think grabbing Cole in the 2nd would be a steal.

Seems like a guy who could get some rotation minutes pretty quickly, even if only 10-15 this year.

I keep seeing that

but what veteran “help” would the Kings want/get from Houston? Scola at the 3 would be epic… or Budinger would be an upgrade too…

The more I see about Alec Burks

The more I think of Tyreke Evans. He’s like a carbon copy of Reke, he even does that kick out lg thing that Tyreke does. That said I think the argument against Burks is the same as Jimmer he’d be a fourth guard.

Enes Kanter only has 5.9% body fat??? HOLY SHIT.

The one question mark about the dude was his conditioning and shape. IMO, this clearly puts that to rest. He’s my preferred pick w/o a question. Ideally we’d acquire Utah’s #3 pick and take whichever is left of him, Irving, and Williams.

After seeing the Grizzlies’ domination through two post players working so well, I’m completely enamored with the idea of DMC and Kanter.
