Around SBN: Indy 500: Coverage of the 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing'

The inmates vote on what they want to watch on TV each week, and of course, they want to watch Jimmer. If BYU's on our local television, every dorm will have the game on. Every inmate will want to watch. They do have that connection to him. They think, 'God, he was up here playing against us.'"

This is

an old link and a commonly repeated story for those that have followed BYU basketball for the past couple years. However, it was mentioned on “The Rise Guys” on KHTK 1140 this morning and they didn’t seem to know much about it. Kreidler and company weren’t sure if it has occurred in Utah or not. So, I guess, now you know;)

They whipped my butt when I played there

I liked it.

I would like to thank all of you for the outpouring of support during my time of need. I proudly, and with great relief, announce that my C is now working on my laptop and any errors from now on are due to my inabilty to proofread. I use to proofread my stuff, but it began lowering my self esteem,
I have found it hard to sound intelligent if I think while I key. So in summary ; the worse the keying the smarter my comment. The proceeds from the HereWeFixTheC car wash have been forwarded to HereWeBuild . Thanks.

I've linked to this story before, but

Kate Fagan of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote a very nice background-piece on Jimmer back in March. I think it’s important to get the perspective of another “outsider” article since I’d imagine that most of the things written about Fredette and read by members of the STR community come from mainstream media and recent local coverage.

Some quotes from the article:

“Electrified. That’s what Jimmer has done for this town: he’s electrified it.” – Dan Hall, Glen Falls city-council member
“Myself and my wife and other people, every day we had to work. Our neighbors, the community, the area, we had to work and work hard and Jimmer understood that.” – Al Fredette (Jimmer’s father)
