There have already been a lot of calls directed at clubs late in the lottery, with one executive suggesting that, based on the needs of the suitors, shooting sensation Jimmer Fredette is a likely target. The possibility of a pick being moved goes all the way to No. 2, where the Timberwolves continue to have conversations but know the best offers probably won’t come until the final days before the draft."

I've read that the Bobcats really like Jimmer and Kemba
Jordan is serious about making moves but just off enough as a talent evaluator to trade up in this, yes this, draft. I would happily give up the #7 and #35 for their #9 and #19. Or the #7 for D.J. Augustin.

Not really interested in Augustin
but maybe swing Tyrus Thomas somehow? He’d be perfect next to Cousins defensively.
I had considered him as well
but I think he has proven himself unable to be that defensive stud we want at the 4. He has shown flashes of potential but nothing consistent. He’s coming off the bench in Charlotte…its the same knock against Casspi, he’s coming off the bench in Sacramento.

The veteran to add to the Kings is Tyrus Thomas?
interesting take.
I will only add that if, and of course we are all just ‘sposing, DJ Augustin is a King, then he instantly becomes the starting PG. I don’t see where this doesn’t make good sense.
That still means that another, starting veteran of established star value is added – i.e. a SF of the Iggy variety. If that doesn’t happen, perhaps at the least, a starter of some degree (i.e. Battier, Budinger, etc).
It has to be all uphill. Maybe that is Tyrus Thomas, but given the choices, I hope the Kings do better. They may not be able to, but I hope they do.
(in case it is not obvious, I am not a Tyrus Thomas fan)

maybe
DJ Augustin? nice player and a pure point guard, but isnt he a liability defensively?
beat what you can't beat.
love what others hate and stand up when you fall.
because of his size, yes - he is a low post liabiity, but as far as guarding opposing PGs he does okay
according to Hollinger’s report on ESPN.
Do you think Walker or Fredette would be better? I don’t. Same questions, but he is an established pro – most of his questions have been answered. He is 6’0" tall (not 5’12") with a PER of 15.97 and is 23 years old. His current pay is $2.5M/yr.
If the Kings want a legit starting PG – he fits the bill. And, I don’t say this with too much tongue in cheek – he gets Coach HighTops endorsement.

And at 2.5 m/yr he is a steal compared to other scenarios such as those featuring Iggy
He may not be the same level of defender that Iggy is, or a position of need (others would argue different) but he is a ball handler, not a rookie, shoots the same from distance as Iggy, and comes at a fraction of those cost.

There are a lot of IFs with Jimmer
Jimmer will be good IF he can get his shot off against NBA level talent, IF he isn’t a sieve on defense, IF he can run the point, IF he can develop a floater with which he can effectively drive to the hoop cause his shot gets swatted all the time IN COLLEGE.
DJ has already proven he CAN run the point, play defense, and drive the lane.

He's proven to be rather mediocre at all those things.
Let’s not kid ourselves now. Augustin’s nice and all, but he’s not that special to warrant a lotto pick, even in this draft. I’d rather take my what if’s(which IMO are much overblown) and run with the Jimmer. If he flops, so be it, but I doubt he will.
If we are going with potential alone then Biyombo is the guy

actually yeah if he was being drafted into this lottery he would warrant a lotto pick.
In fact the year he was drafted he warranted a lotto pick.

Just draft Jimmer at 7 and be done with it.
Trying to manipulate ‘extra’ perceived value out of this draft is not only reckless, but just downright stupid. If you like a guy, just draft him. I highly doubt Jimmer goes before 7. And there’s noone in this draft that is good enough to justify moving up or down and risking losing a player like Jimmer who’s such a tremendous fit on multiple levels for the Kings franchise on the court, in the box office and in the lockerroom.
Yeah, I trust that Petrie knows what he's doing regarding the draft

same.
He probably has one of the best records choosing in the first round. The second not so much.

That's what Petrie will do anyway
He’s not gonna trade down, he’ll just pick who he wants where he wants, a la Jason Thompson

I agree
Jimmer seems like the right fit on the court, at the box office, and in the locker room. Pick him at 7 and be done with it. Good call.
Plus, there’s plenty of capspace to sign free agents.
El Ron can name that tune in one note.

Jimmer at #7 sounds a lot like
Jason Thompson at #12
I know Petrie doesn't usually trade down picks, but.....
If Walker, Irving and Knight are off the board at #7, I am wondering if trading down to the Pacers (#15) or 76ers (#16) plus their first round pick next year would be enticing. Pacers/76ers can draft Jimmer. At 15/16 we could target the defensive SF Chris Singleton and pick up a “possible” lottery pick in next years draft. Next year’s draft appears to be much deeper. Drafting Singleton fulfills a need and sets up with hopefully 2 lottery picks in a deeper draft.
I doubt a team's going to give up a first rounder in a potentially good draft next year
To move up a few spots in a weak draft this year.

Plus knowing Petrie
if he really likes Singleton, he’ll just take him at 7. It may seem like a reach, but if you trade down to 15, there is a very real possibility that a team like the Warriors grab him at 11 and then you are up the creek without a paddle.
