Now that the Kings have made it clear to the rest of the league that Marcus Thornton is destined to be a King for many years (back off you A-holes!), a bit more of the future roster is in focus. In fact, it's less likely now that Thornton will receive more than one offer the Kings might have to match, and that will probably come as a favor to his agent - as I dare say there aren't any teams out there worried enough about the current Kings to play the sabotage game right now.
TZ has just written an excellent post full of factual data on the results of the Tyreke/Thornton pairing in the games they played together at the end of last season. As usual with those pesky statistical posts, I came away with my usual "who are you going to believe, TZ, or your lying eyes?" With Thornton on the court, there were mistakes but the team was not only more exciting - they were better.
PRIMER 1: See poll below and decide which great guard tandem Tyeke and Marcus will compare to once the league feels thier heat.
To me, the team seemed like they were one good (OK, Damn Good) player - and some growing up - from being a team good enough to at least be in the playoff discussion. But I'm a Kings fan, and maintaining that malady has required some hard work, dedication and considerable dosages of anti-psychotics over the last three or four years.
But wins are what count in this business, and building towards a championship contender is the goal. To get there, you first have to have a team that can make the playoffs however. What trade would YOU make to bring in a Starting caliber vet to solidify the roster? I don't know either, but give it a try.
Sooooooo
Time to whip out that good trade you've been saving, for the doldrums of summer w/o Kings basketball is here.
Dazzle us!!!!!!
This is the place for your well thought out trade idea!
This is also the place for all your pipe dreams, or for some wacky ill-advised nonsense just because the numbers match up in that Trade Machine IGGY Thingy.
Trade for players you love, trade away players you hate. Just trade to make the team better without regard to emotion - or make it all about emotion.
HINT: Think 'True' PG guard or ball handling, defensive SF. For either, a dead eye shooter from range would be preferable. Big time Stud - or short term enough so that you won't be crushed by "that kills our future flexibility!" comments.
But actually - do whatever you want!
Thats what this is here for, to keep other posts from wandering into 'I think we could still get LaBron!'.
Out-think Geoff Petrie!
Please out-think Mike Dunleavy David Kahn and anyone ever associated with the Clippers Timberwolves.
(yeah, I'm leaving that line in)
You never know, you may gain wide acclaim and Fame for your brilliant move!
