It almost feels as if a team will trade for 6th pick to get him before us. maybe we should trade for first pick to guarantee we get him. Only kidding…a little

by caseycheesecake on Jun 15, 2011 11:53 AM PDT reply actions
I was just going to say that.
If Jimmer is “killing it” as reported why would he fall to 7 in such a weak draft?
The Jazz hve the 3rd pick
But they have the 12th (I think) too.
I don't know about that.
I was talking in the context of Jimmer being more impressive in his workout’s than expected.
I'm not surprised Jimmer did well offensively against Kemba.
I think most people expect that on a consistant basis. The question I have is how Jimmer did guarding Walker. I know Corbin said Jimmer looked better defensively, in person, than on film, but that doesn’t say how well he did.
/ Wondering if I should change my signature
This makes me worry-
That with all the pub- Jimmer could be off the board by 7. Does anyone else feel that it’s a possibility.
by Sincere P. on Jun 15, 2011 11:54 AM PDT via mobile reply actions
That also woud mean
that a player we did not expect to fall to us did.
I agree!
It’s highly likely he will be gone by #7, however I thought the same thing about DMC last year….
"Let's put this negatizm behind us!" - Joe Maloof
If he's gone, then who drops?
Maybe that wouldn’t be the worst scenario in the world.
"Grant is a genius." - section214 - 5/17/11
Nope
It just depends on how the King’s draft board is. For me, I would be very upset because I have Jimmer listed after Irving, Williams and Knight. I know those three will be gone before our pick and I just don’t like the Euros this year.
/ Wondering if I should change my signature
The nightmare scenario (for some)
Irving, Williams, Kanter, Fredette and Knight go within the top six, leaving us to choose from (using my list) Leonard, Vesely or Valanciunas. I’m OK with this, but there are tons of people here who would be very unhappy.
Up next, using Casspi and the #7 to move up to draft Jimmer!

Valanciunas and Vesely are the hardest for me to place, since I feel like I know the least about them.
I like Jimmer for our team and would be happy with him, but certainly won’t be upset if Petrie takes someone else. The hype machine for Jimmer is in overdrive right now.

Kemba is ball dominant
which wouldnt work with Tyreke or MT. What we need is 6’2 195 pound pass first guard that can shoot from wherever he put his feet, at can somewhat finish at the rim.

Kemba is no more a true point guard
than Tyreke is. Difference – Tyreke was an unstoppable force at Memphis who became an unstoppable force in the NBA. Kemba will be…stoppable. That word looks wierd now. Are ther two "p"’s? There must be, there’s just gotta be.

Well, I am not putting myself under smarter or educated, but
I would be most concerned about:
Jazz if they trade down. Don’t think they would pull the trigger at 3, but if they flip picks with Washington it’s a possibility.
Toronto. They need a PG. If they feel Jimmer is better than Kemba, they certainly could.
I'm severely underqualified to address this question,

Here you go Dirkula.
1) everything (seriously)
2) talent, depth mainly at the center position and in the back court.
3) 1,2,3 Plenty of depth up front.
4) everything (even after drafting #1)
5) 1,3,4/5 (depending on what you consider Bags) and depth. Maybe even a 2 if they deal DeRozen to move up.
6) 2,3,4,5 (best player available that is not a PG)

Utah
Would have a marketing coup if they get him. Personally I’d select him over B-Knight based on what he has shown last season, through the workouts, and how his stock is rising. Its not as if Jazz fans would be made at the organization for taking that chance.
"Let's put this negatizm behind us!" - Joe Maloof
I don't think Utah can afford to take Jimmer at 3 with Kanter still on the board.
1) Irving
2) Williams
3) Kanter
4) Valanciunas or Vesely
5) Knight
6) Leonard or Vesely
7 Jimmer
That’s how I see it breaking down. I can’t see Jimmer going top 3. I can’t see him going at 4 with Irving or 6 with Wall(barring trades of course) and I don’t think Toronto looks his way if Knight is on the board and it sounds like they really liked Kemba, so he might go 5 to Toronto.
I could see them trading up from #12 to get Jimmer.
The world is not your Trade Machine.
-Ziller
@James_Ham
5 would probably be the only spot that gets them there
maybe 6. They’d likely have to sacrifice Millsap to do so. Possible, but not probable.
How much flack do u think the Jazz get...
If they draft Knight/Kemba and Jimmer turns out to be the better player, when Jimmer played in there back yard. I think they would consider Jimmer at 3 if they wanted him. If he is a bust the Jazz would get the least amount of crap for it in my opinion with all that Utah Jimmer love.

Maybe it's just me
More of an indictment on Kemba Walker who I had serious doubts to begin with. To be more concise, I’m not sure Kemba Walker is an NBA level player who Fredette allegedly just carved up.
sd377 wants to ban me for unleashing the Kaepernick Supernova Gamma Ray
Why is everyone freaking out?
Kemba couldn’t guard Jimmer, what’s the story here? I don’t think anyone expected him to be able to guard him in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, Jimmer is “auditioning” quite well, but if he goes top 6 I’ll be f-ing shocked.
Jimmer from 16 to 3 with just a couple workouts.
That would be an epic ascension.
He was listed lower
I think DraftExpress had him at 21 or 22 about 2 weeks ago.

Draft Express had him at 20 on 5/18
They had him at 46 back on January 6th, then jumped him to 13th on January 27.

From what I read on STR...
Kemba’s Sac workout was less then impressive and it’s not just that he couldn’t guard Jimmer… But (I would have to go back and read the thread)- it was said he had a hard time guarding the scrub guard they had in that workout. I know this draft is so up and down and we could all change our minds a couple more times before the draft- but I’m really getting worried about drafting Walker. I was on board with him at the beginning of all this but after these workouts I’m starting to be scared off.
