"But that's half the story. The other half is the Maloofs, who are getting more involved in the Kings' front office. I'm told they are the ones who are pushing hard for Jimmer and they may get their way."

If its a Maloof idea it’s bound to be a bad one. Than again playing the percentages they have to eventually be right at some time.

You can't blame them, the Jimmer has Jimmer'd better men than the Maloofs

PR
maybe this is their way of giving the fans what they want?
If they were worried about giving the fans what they want...
They wouldn’t have:
Pumped ticket prices to ridiculous levels
Been general douche bags in the media
Blamed the city for lacking attendance despite bad team play
Continually chosen to act like partying celebrities instead of serious businessmen
Royally screwed up Fan Appreciation Night
Tried to take the team away from the city
Acted with contempt like they are doing the city a favor in keeping the team in Sacramento for one more year.
I’m just not buying it. I just don’t think they have any concern for PR whatsoever.

The Maloof's just lost 50% of their interest in the Palms. Calling them Businessmen, serious or otherwise is rediculous
They are what they are: Gamblers on a losing streak.

Since he got booted, a lot of those things changed under the Maloofs….I still want them to sell, but whatever, I can’t control that.
I think them getting their way
has to do with Petrie liking the Jimmer too
"What the fuck did I do?" - McNulty
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was just warming up to the Jimmer express, but if the Maloofs are driving, I’m gonna turn and run as fast as I can. Everything they touch seems to die.

They wanted Tyreke and DeMarcus too right?

If my memory is correct
The Maloofs wanted Rbio but Petrie stood his ground and took Tyreke

Cautionary note
Just cos Chad says it doesn’t make it so
The national media has never really got a handle on what the Kings have thought about player moves.
If the Maloofs are his source he has to run with it right!
I'm trying to remember
But I think reports came out that the Maloofs were very high on Rubio at draft time, and we know how that turned out.
/ Wondering if I should change my signature
My guess...
He saw the huge smile on Gavin’s face during the Jimmer’s workout, as well as how he approached him after (both caught on the video released by the Kings) and is running with it.

That would be cheap and irresponsible.
Oh, wait, Chad Ford? Yeah, that’s definitely what happened.

"I'm told..."
Really, Chad? Who told you that? Because history has pretty much shown that you have no internal link to the Kings, and Jeery Reynolds (among others) have discounted your guesswork time and time again.
Ford does a great job of assembling information on the actual talent of the players, and I would even call him a fair (though not great) judge of talent. But I think that front offices abuse this guy with mis-information that he then takes to the streets. Or maybe he is misled by agents with their own agendas. Whatever the case, I don’t find him to be very credible in these instances.

This is a good point
He’s dead wrong year after year after year. Than when the Kings draft someone else and criticize his reporting he goes onto to bash their draft pick.

I doubt he's that personal about the Kings draft pick
he probably just doesn’t pay any attention and just makes shit up for our team
