Nary a Point Guard?
So now that we've sent Beno off to Cheezeland (and wish him well on the next stage of his journey) and as GP declared yesterday "really improved ourselves at the small forward position, dramatically", the missing piece on this roster is clearly a point guard / distributor, assuming we resign MT23 (and I hope we keep le Grand Roi de Haiti as well).
Clearly nobody was sold on Beno being the great PG of the future NBA Champion Sacramento Kings, so here's your chance to weigh in on who that player-to-be-named would/should/could be. You can pick from the players in the poll below (all available free agents according to BleacherReport) or add your own suggestions -- though Chris Paul is not a likely candidate, so more realistic options would be more welcome than "I think we should get Pete Maravich".
Let the hunt begin!

I think with Reke and Fred we are fine at the point
I think Thomas could out Pooh Pooh at some point as a change of pace PG. But I also believe that either Omri/Donte will be traded for a vet traditional PG of some merit or one will be signed as a FA.
obviously most of the FA money will be for a big. We still have about 20 million to spend to get to 50 even after counting Fred.
I would like to thank all of you for the outpouring of support during my time of need. I proudly, and with great relief, announce that my C is now working on my laptop and any errors from now on are due to my inabilty to proofread. I use to proofread my stuff, but it began lowering my self esteem,
I have found it hard to sound intelligent if I think while I key. So in summary ; the worse the keying the smarter my comment. The proceeds from the HereWeFixTheC car wash have been forwarded to HereWeBuild . Thanks.
If Fred is Curry as Crandell suggests all is good

Right, sorry, Jimmer should be in the list above as well. *Adding now*
Though I have real doubts that he will be able to play a role as PG / distributor in the NBA.

I don't think he will have any problem
equaling the Bibby (Kings version) of distribution.
If you are talking Nash level, there is no chance.

I think that team was balanced very differently though
If you look at the starting five then, we had excellent facilitators at the 4 & 5:
Vlade, CWebb, Peja, Christie, Bibby
and now:
Dally/DMC/JT, Smells like Fish/Omri/Donte, MT23/Reke/Fred
I really don’t see much effective ball distribution out of the frontcourt, leading me to think a true PG (or perhaps a big man with passing skills) would be a way to make this work. Our inside-outside and open court game will be very good, but I really worry that lack of ball movement in the halfcourt set will be our Achilles’ heel. And a Bibby-type player (like Fred, or even Tyreke) wouldn’t really help all that much. But I am often wrong.

I think DMC has the abilty to be a top level passer for a big
and JT is a decent and willing passer.’
Ball movement is a must, if we had it Casspi wouldn’t have stopped moving.

Wilson Chandler?
When did he become a point guard??
I'd love to see that.
Who would they want. Casspi? Maybe we could dump Garcia on them, but I doubt they would want him and his contract.
El Ron can name that tune in one note.
Pretty sure Jimmer
will be point guard of the future, or at least a Tyreke/Jimmer back court, with them sharing pg duties. I think Jimmer will be a starter before the end of the season.

We sometimes get caught up in the term point guard. The term refers to the team's top facilitator.
In Miami it is LeBron, Lakers have Kobe, Hawks it is Joe Johnson. At one point n his career even the great Wilt Chamerlain lead his team in assists.
A ball handler, good decision maker preferably with speed is what a team needs to bring up the ball to start the offense or run the offense. Reke, Jimmer, Thornton, and both Pooh and I.Thomas all have handles as do Garcia and Salmons. And if he is reading this (ha!), not you Boogie!

I don't think the focus is on PG at all
I actually think they drafted Jimmer to shore up the ball handling and if we add a pg at all it, that player will not be a major player or have a large salary.
I am wondering if the Kings focus is now on a big-time big man. We filled the SF position with a role player which is really what we needed to do and what everyone was asking for. We have a ton of money to throw at a FA big or to take a big contract in trade so I would not be surprised at all if the future moves for the Kings involve a big and not a guard or SF.
