David West opts out of contract...
David West turned down 7.5 mil option. We could move DMC to center and have David West play PF. JT can come in off the bench, and hopefully Whiteside can do the same when healthy. What do you think StR...will David West fit with the new look Kings???

doubt it
West said he wants to go to a winner. If that’s the case I doubt he would be ok with going to a project team

Plus, that knee scares me
He could never be the same player again. Too much of a gamble and too much money
I’ll be the happiest person in the world if he turns out to be a good player on this level. Hell, I’ll even change my avatar to a pic of the Jimmer and make my signature "I was wrong about the Jimmer."
Unfortunately he tore his ACL
And didn’t play any interior defense before he got hurt. His best skill is scoring but thats not a team need. I wonder how much inflated his stats were with Chris Paul too. Injury, age, skill set; he’s not the right player.

I agree with you on the injury
But I think he’d be a good fit otherwise, mainly because he’s insanely consistent at hitting his jumpers which complements the inside games of DeMarcus and Tyreke.
He’s also an alright rebounder (not great, not bad), decent passer, and while he isn’t a defensive stopper, he’s not a sieve either.
We could do worse than David West, much worse.

+1
He’s a very solid PF who’s game will age well. I remember going to a game last year or the year before and he dropped 40+ on us with NOTHING but elbow jumpers because he was gimping on one leg. I couldn’t believe it…

Offense, offense, offense
That’s great he can score 40, but if we are replacing Dalembert, we don’t need more scoring, we need a defensive anchor. West is not that.
Don’t forget, the Hornets were at their best when West played next to Tyson Chandler. Cousins can play the west role here, it’s the Chandler role we need (if Daly doesn’t return)

i wouldn't count him out
“you can never have too many scorers” lol. if we get him we’d have to seriously focus on both ball distribution and team defense (not that we don’t already have to.)
Didn't we just trade West?
For Marcus Thornton?

In some ways
I always look at undersized power forwards as plan B (minus Barkley). I wouldn’t spend top dollar on one, or in other words consider it the major free agent acquisition I’ve been promising for 4 years.

A healthy David West is much, much, much better than Carl Landry
Not so sure about post-injury David West.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
Considering his game mostly relies on elbow jumpers
I don’t see him as affecting him too adversely if he comes back healthy.

This would be a concern if all of West's points came off of alley oops and easy lay-ins
West has much, much more game than that. At least he did prior to the knee injury. All things considered, he’s not near the top of my want list.

On the contrary,
what would Paul’s assists be like without West nailing those elbow jumpers at a ridiculous rate?

Just check the 2009-10 year when Paul was injured most of the year
West seemed to do just fine then.

A pick and slip power forward with a very consistent mid range game
Sign me up! Thinking about an Evans/west pick and roll with the defense respecting jimmer and Demarcus would mean help coming from the sf/sg. This means sagging off Thornton, casspi, or salmons.either that or Tyreke will live in the key and get layup after layup or west kills them with midrange. IF we can get that type of cohesiveness, we could be looking at a very good offensive team with West.

I really hope they do... It honestly would play to the strengths of the team (with D.West)
And with D.West running that play routinely with C.Paul for a couple of years, I hope he would have a couple of pointers.

Sounds like Shareef all over again
Except shareef was a couple of years younger when we signed him if I remember right he was 28. Too risky.
