Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 13

Brad_miller_medium

This actually happened in real life.

Twelfth in our rankings, Brad Miller takes his place among the Greatest Sacramento Kings of All-Time.  With Miller out of the running, all Sacramento All-Stars are off the board (At least until Jimmer puts in half a season, am I right?).

When voting feel free to use any criteria you wish in your evaluation, but only take into account a player's career as a Sacramento King.  If a player you want to vote for isn't on the poll, feel free to mention him in the comments to be added.

Today we expand the field to ten: Lionel Simmons, Ron ArtestLaSalle Thompson, Spud Webb, Otis Thorpe, Corliss Williamson, Kenny Smith, Brian Grant and Eddie Johnson. After the jump, a statistical breakdown of their time in a Kings uniform.

Sentimentally I want to go with Corliss or L-Train

Statistically I want to go with Ron Artest or Eddie Johnson.

Between those 4, L-Train or Artest stick out to me the most…

I’m going to go with L-Train. He might not have been an All-Star or anything, but he was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal Kings experience back in the early days, and he spent his entire career in Sacramento, something few can say. He also features prominently in the Kings record books.

Giving the edge to Simmons here

Probably the 2nd greatest SF in Sacramento history. I considered LaSalle Thompson, Corliss and Artest here as well.

I've been going with Simmons for a bit

And I’ll continue to. Corliss is next for me, followed by Ronnie Price and Bobby Brown.

Voted Artest again.

It’s really between Artest and L-Train at this point. I never remembered my eyes being drawn to Lionel Simmons even while on defense, so it has to go to Ron-Ron here.

Go for it all. You're a great champion.

The Artest formerly known as Ron

On skills alone, Artest is a top 5 King. His stats while here in Sacramento are impressive and he was on a playoff team (sorry L-Train) as the leader (just ask Coach Reg). #93 all the way.

L-Train Was Too...

His final game for the Kings was a playoff game and a damn fine one (for him) if I remember correctly.

ok looks like I am wrong

I thought his last game was the home loss to Seattle during the playoffs? Hmmm

Not gonna lie

Kinda surprised Corliss is leading the vote so far.

I'm not too surprised

Big Nasty was one of the more memorable Kings, a lot of people seem to be eschewing statistical accomplishments for guys with increased years of service because they remember them more.

That being said, I love Corliss and consider him one of those forever Kings (like Animal and Mancakes), but he’s not top 15. Ron, Spud, and L-Train deserve the nod over him

Go for it all. You're a great champion.

Agreed, sort of

Agreed 100% with your first paragraph.

Agreed 67% with your second paragraph – Corliss had a better career here than Webb, and that is not taking into consideration that Corliss was a pro’s pro and Webb never liked it here.

Corliss sits at #15 on my list, behind Simmons and Artest. Webb sits behind those guys and virtually everyone else on the current list of choices.

L-Train

I think everyone forgets how good he was becoming before he got hurt. He was on the verge of becoming one of the best SF in the Western Conference

Could we consider a players' greatness by what we got for them in trade?

Does it make a player greater that when he was traded, we acquired something great? i.e. Corlis for Christie?

Going with Polynice Here

Kidding.

Lionel Simmons. 6 years. Knees of sand by the end…

He should get some love.
