Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 15

L-Train stuck it to the L*kers before sticking it to the L*kers was cool.
Young battled old in our last poll, but most voters chose to board the L-Train, and so Lionel Simmons has been named the 14th greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.
When voting feel free to use any criteria you wish in your evaluation, but only take into account a player's career as a Sacramento King. If a player you want to vote for isn't on the poll, feel free to mention him in the comments to be added.

I'm going to be controversial and pick Tyreke Evans here.
There are other guys that were with the team longer, but I don’t know if any of these guys have had the impact Tyreke has in bringing excitement back to the city after an absolutely miserable few years before. His rookie year especially was the most fun I’ve had watching a bad team, solely because of him. He gave us hope again, hope despite the fact that most of us had wanted Blake Griffin or Ricky Rubio.
Tyreke was the greatest rookie in Kings history, and his 20-5-5 was one of the best rookie performances in NBA history. He had a bump in the road last year playing injured, but I have extremely high hopes for him going forward. This guy is our future. He’ll either shoot up this list in years to come or fall behind. All I know is I’d buy stock in Tyreke Evans.

I have no problem with Tyreke being 15th best
and I’m sure if we revisit this topic in 5 years time, it’ll be a mockery that we voted him only 15th.
Actually, I’m more intrigued who will slide the most, from when he is first introduced on the ballot, and when he finally gets the most votes of the round. I’m guessing it’s currently… Spud?
This.
No Controversy!
Already Reke has shown me more than even a few that went before him. Sometimes he hangs his head a bit, but this kid is a BEAST and – most importantly to me – he seems fully committed to the Kings. Corliss was a great guy and a hard worker, solid, consistent. Tyreke Evans is a force of nature.
Looking at this list, how can it not be Tyreke Evans here?
I'm just gonna throw this out there...
I’m outraged that Jimmer has not been on any of these polls. OUTRAGED.
I cannot agree with those who rank modesty among the virtues. To the logician all things should be seen exactly as they are, and to underestimate one’s self is as much a departure from truth as to exaggerate one’s own powers.

We're only ranking mortal Kings players
Not demigods. It’d be wholly unfair to everyone else to include Jimmer, because they’d have no chance.

Tyreke doesn't have the body of work to win here
but it looks like he might.
Corliss baby

Voted Otis Thorpe
Just seemed right.
Go for it all. You're a great champion.

Tyreke
Love Tyreke’s game but he shouldnt even be on here yet … everyone else is retired or playing for the Lakers… once Tyreke is gone it would make since to vote on him…
Brian Grant .. PFFFFTTTT .. didnt he say he play for a bag of chips and a pepsi, then leave us high and dry for a lesser offer and The Kings were deffinatly on the rise at that time. …. great career .. horrible to the Kings in the end …
actually he left for a bigger offer
From Portland… Like $42M or somesuch, I can’t recall exactly.
But when he was here, he was fantastic!

Actually went Tank Thompson here. Guy was a warrior on the first Kings play-off team in 85-86 and gave the teams some reasonably solid center play in those early years.

Corliss...
I really wish he was wearing a King jersey in this photo, but it’s still one of my all-time favorites.

I don't have a real problem with the votes so far
Although I agree with some of the sentiments that the current (or recent) Kings are maybe getting a little too much run. Or that some of the older Kings are getting negative run for being on truly terrible teams. Personally, I have been voting for Simmons for about the last 4 or 5 picks. I think some order of Tyreke, Corliss, Bran Grant, LaSalle, Thorpe, and Kenny Smith should be the next selections. But, that is the upside of a voting process.

P.S. Voted for LaSalle here.

When do we add Officer Polynice to the list?
Go for it all. You're a great champion.

Went with Corliss
But I’ll have no qualms if Tyreke wins this round (as it appears he will).
In most polarizing arguments, the truth is found somewhere in the middle.

This one was between Corliss and LaSalle Thompson for me,
and the Big Nasty edged Tank.
I think that it’s a little too early to rate Evans over these guys, unless you are including potential in your voting criteria. But he does at least deserve consideration.

My argument for Evans includes what he's already done in his two years here
Aside from Corliss, who enjoyed 2-3 years of winning when with the team, nobody else on the list has played on teams that were all that much better than teams Tyreke has been on. Yet Tyreke has been the clear best player on the Kings in the last two years (with a little Beno Udrih/Marcus Thornton action thrown in last year to compensate for his injury).

Why don't you list blocks and assists for all the players?
That likely encourages bias.

Because why would I list Spud Webb's blocks?
Or Corliss Williamson’s 3 point percentage? I only list stats that make sense for players. How does “20-5-5-0.3” sound? Some guys aren’t good at certain things, and aside from rebounding (where everyone gets at least one or two) I won’t list for everyone. Also I do list assists for everybody.

Still,..9 is better than .1
But I see your point. I didn’t know what criteria you were using to include or not include stats.

Reke would be voted much much higher if he was available
and that would be objective.

Same thing applies for DMC.
Skill wise they are among the best ever. Their age blinds us.
Bleeding Black and Purple 6710 miles South East of Sacramento.
It's not their age,
it’s their lack of productive time served. Cousins has not had the career in a Kings uni that any of the guys on the current list have had. And I say again, Evans did not win the first day that he was on the list, so I don’t see how having him on the list earlier would have made a difference.
I’ll put this another way – if we compare Cousins’ one season to Ainge’s one season, it’s Ainge, and it’s not close. And Ainge is not on the list yet, nor should he be.

With the way voting has been going,
I think it’s a no brainer who the next pick (pick 16) will be, so I’m thinking we should just slot him in, and go over to pick 17. You shall not deny my sentimentality!
Poor Spud. I think I’ll go with him at 17.
This.
Not necessarily.
There’s no telling how the ‘Reke vote will split now that ’Reke is off the ballot. It could be that people who voted for ’Reke this time around will have a strong preference for…hell, I don’t know…Otis Thorpe?
Okay, you have a point there.
"Where hope goes to die"
With the way voting has been going, you could throw Marcus Thornton up there and he'll get picked rather quickly
by HeuristicLineup on Sep 2, 2011 7:20 AM PDT up reply actions
I have no doubt Thornton will get picked somewhere in the Top 50.
Because at some point, he will actually be better than players before him, even in just 27 games.
I know this though, which is why I’m not going to put him up on the list until I start getting to the point where its “Would I rather vote for Andres Nocioni or Marcus Thornton…”

I refuse to vote once we start having to pick the Nocioni's of the word
I might be out of this by the mid 30’s
