Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 26
Nobody Expects The Yeti.
We're officially halfway through the Top 50 Sacramento Kings of All-Time, and you have voted Beno Udrih at No. 25. I'm a tad surprised myself, but I guess everyone has blocked 2008-09 from their memory (for good reason).
HOW TO VOTE:
Voting is done via the comment section. To vote, simply add a comment with the name of the person you would like to vote for. Feel free to explain your vote if you wish, or not. If you are a lurker who doesn't post much, this could be a good opportunity to create an account (it is super easy and completely free) and start interacting with the community. Voting ends at midnight (Pacific Time) so get your comments in before then. Any votes after that will not count.
When voting feel free to use any criteria you wish in your evaluation, but only take into account a player's career as a Sacramento King. If a player you want to vote for isn't on the poll, feel free to mention him in the comments to be added.

If Beno Udrih is already number 26 out of 50,
why are we punishing ourselves with 25 more?

Maxwell played 46 games
And Corbin double that but less productively than other guys on the list or soon to be on the list. They’ll make it eventually, but there are still several guys I believe made a much bigger impact on the team.

This the last Carr Card I can find on Google
So today is the day.
Carr has the highest PER and was the most effective player for some decent squads that is remaining on this list. If not for the fact that he played for the Kings in the Pre-2000s he would be on the All-Time collection already.
His stats are a full level above the remainders here. As far as effectiveness, Rodney McCray is next on the list. Look – which of these guys would start for another team – Pollard? really?
But he only played 110 games for the Kings.
Would probably be 4th or 5th on the given list for me.

Olden Polynice man
The dude played almost 400 games as King. Come on. The fact he lasted so long on the list is a testament to his longeivity.

On the team, not on the list.

A lot of people won't forgive him for flipping off Kings fans in his post-Kings days
Which I can understand.

Antoine Carr
His shorter stint here exceeds anything that anyone remaining on the list accomplished over time, with the possible exception of Polynice. And I’m trying like hell not to vote for OP – I just don’t need that on my record.

I still can’t vote for OP. How could you vote for the Guy? Besides stats and longevity he has to be the most unlikable Guy on here. I guess this is a conceptual difference between peoples voting criteria. I just think voting on stats isn’t what this list is about.
Voting Carr
Because I don’t want OP to win.

If we're going to use the criteria of games won
Then there would be a short list of players left. But then again we can use whatever criteria we want, so question the selection all you want.

this is tough
Still don’t understand the lack of Cisco love. Antoine Carr was a lot of fun to root for, and McCray was a very effective player, but I gotta go with Cisco.

After that, I’d consider Marcus Thornton.

I am going Ainge with my bias and nostalgia of the early years Kings teams. His acquisition was a big deal in the sense he was big name player from a recent championship team that was now on our team. It was a really exciting acquistion at the time. Not sure he was thrilled to be in Sactown but put up some great numbers and hustled.
BTW, really miss the vote counter machine we had. Know we had someone bypass the system but perhaps we could try it again…

Hedo Turkoglu
I may be totally throwing away my vote, but I gotta vote for ‘My Turk.’ I was a bit late starting to watch the NBA (not just the Kings,) so I hardly know who a lot of these players are. Also, call me a tad clueless, but where did the moniker Yeti come from in relation to Beno??? I’m completely scratching my head over that one. And count another vote for adding Jon Barry on the ballot (maybe his stats weren’t that great, but man could he hustle.)
The Yeti for Beno is a running gag
Ziller had a post after a game where Beno had a huge defensive stop at the end of a game against the Utah Jazz. In that post, he credited the stop to Beno using his ‘Yeti’. Since then, whenever Beno did something good (mostly on defense) we would say that he brought out the Yeti.

I have to give Danny Ainge at least one vote
He has been sitting in the green room for a LONG time now. Almost Hassan Whitesite-like.

With a hat tip to embersky2116,
I’m voting Jon Barry. I don’t care if he’s not on the list and I don’t care if I’m voting after the deadline. He was a significant contributor to good and exciting teams who posted decent numbers and played with heart. He played over 160 games with us, which would put him in the range of many of the options on the list. We traded him for Mateen Cleaves, right? Does anyone remember why we did that?
This is probably a bit of chronological bias, but I’m casting this vote in the hope he gets added to the list soon.
Alright, you guys win
Barry will be added to the list on Monday.

I think we traded Barry to clear up rotational glut.
He and Turkoglu were fighting for minutes, and by the end of the playoffs that year it was looking like Hedo had won. While we might have been able to push for a 2nd round pick or something, I think that trade worked out best for us; we had all the rotation we needed at that point, and Jon Barry was able to contribute for another team where he was needed more.
