Annoyed, frustrated and ready to kick Salmons

Hey Kings! I have an idea! Lets have every single person BUT Jimmer shoot. Isn't that what we want? Our best pure shooter to not shoot? That makes complete sense! I want Donte, Salmons, Cisco, JJ and Cousins taking jumpers out on the perimeter!!!! Why would I want Jimmer to shoot a jumper? That would just be ridiculous

....ok maybe I meant the other way around. Get a solid rotation "Smart". Jimmer is sure keeping the bench warm. Unreal. How can he warm up when we have JOHN F-ING SALMONS shooting consistenly.

how many...

blowouts is it going to take to realize our problems? No Jimmer, no wins.

What games are you watching?

I think we can do without Jimmer’s 34% FG and he will have to prove he is our best “pure shooter”. What he did in college means nothing in the NBA. We are getting blown out for many reasons, but Jimmer playing few minutes has little to do with our record.

Yeah, he's obviously

The answer to all our problems when he looks like a scared little kid trying to be potty trained.

I think

Jimmer shooting all he wants is probably fine and better than what most of the rest of the starting squad can shoot. Problem is…he cannot run an offense. Did you not see the big difference in the offense tonight when he ran it versus Isaiah Thomas?

So wait, there's someone named Jimmer in the NBA?

Is he on our team?

Dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble...

0-20 from 3 point range

Over the last 6 games, I think the stat was. GJ, Salmons. /sarcasm

The other Kings aren't the only ones at fault.

Jimmer has no confidence in taking his shot. It’s really strange.

Are the Jimmer fans trying

to make us hate him?

He’s a rook with some talent who has not yet adapted to the NBA; but yes, Salmons stinks.

by polotown on Jan 14, 2012 8:40 AM PST reply actions   1 recs

Jimmer is a Rookie.

Kyle Weidie, Truth About It: Kemba Walker. His field goal percentage (.364) is worse than that of the Jimmer (.367), who has been inconsistent himself, especially on defense. But let’s revisit this after these two have a better chance to get their NBA shooting legs under them. ( 8 days ago. ) the Confidence will come to Jimmer he is a rookie learning the NBA but freakin Salmons is driving me nuts! That’s the one guy i want to see gone! I mean fu*kin GONE! he is a Joke! I wish he would Freakin disappear from the Kings. he should not be starting….. drug test his ball hog ass. #@*! That’s how i feel about his game.

Kings who are better jump shooters than Jimmer right now, by eFG%

Marcus Thornton
Isaiah Thomas
Donte Greene
Jason Thompson(!)

I don’t see why they shouldn’t be taking jumpers before Jimmer, until he finds his stroke.

Data from 82games

JT eFg on jump shots .462
DG eFG on jump shots .474
IT eFG on jump shots .415
MT eFG on jump shots .477
Jimmer eFG on jump shots .402.

They split the shots into 4 categories: close, dunk, tip, an jump

by unfair weather on Jan 14, 2012 11:37 AM PST up reply actions

Jimmer and IT are extremely close and shooting at around the same spots according to HoopsData

Thompson looks to be killing it from 3 to 9 feet and hasn’t hardly shot further out then that.

Donte just hasn’t shot much yet really

Marcus Thornton is just better

Where the rubber meets the road is that fredette thus far is a really inefficient scorer on a team full of those. And he hasn’t yet earned a right to shoot more than anybody else has.

It's sad that all the blind love to Jimmer makes me want to turn my back.

I am trying to give him a fair shake despite not being thrilled about a seemingly one dimensional player. In fact I have been excited for his addition but man the fanboys all over Jimmer and blind to any of his struggles really drive me to turn in the opposite direction. whether its those who say he is “clearly the best PG” wen he is lacking fundamentals right now (i.e. not leaving feet to pass, or picking up his dribble at bad times) or the fans who yell “shoot it” when he gets the ball across half court (not in reasonable range even for him, and often time as he is being trapped!

Just somewhat disappointing that I feel like the kid will get a ton of haters not even based on his own play but just on the way many of his faithful go on endlessly and blindly. In that respect I see a touch of Tebow in the kid. Just a random thought.

Not so random

I have felt this way a bit, too.

feel the same way

I especially love the “we need to start him” then “we need to bench other players to get his stats going” and the “he has a better +/- overall even though the stats don’t indicate that and I say it because his first quarter +/- is better therefore first quarter +/- is better than looking at overall +/-.”

On a Salmons specific note which I thought this thread was going to be about...

I don’t know that Smart will do it but a part of me hopes he sits Salmons down on the bench for a couple games to see if maybe he can relax and find his stroke.

In fairness or in a means of giving us hope lets consider that since Salmons isn’t a volume shooter so even his current struggles dont necessarily kill us. By that I mean heck even if he mad just one basket more per game he would be around 47%. Also lets remember that this guy last year (and for his recent career seemingly) has shot about 35% over the first 15 or so games, but then typically ramps it up the rest of the way with progressively stronger numbers. So lets hope he turns that corner soon and gets it going. Lets also hope he can begin getting a couple trips to the line, he has not drawn fouls at all this season and often times those freebies can be a means to spark a guy.

But with all of that said and with Smart speaking highly of his abilities to work with the personalities of players, Id like to maybe see Donte get a bit more run now at Sf and let Salmons come off the bench to switch things up. I dont mind if he stays as a starter but I think a switch even if just to try to find something and to reward a good soldier in Donte would be good. Or even slide him over to SG while Thornton is out and let Donte play SF and create some nice size mismatches.

Also for those in the Jimmer must start camp

And those who love the small sample size…
Jimmer in identical minutes per game as a starter versus off the bench gets less, points, less assists, lower FG %, less aggressive offensively, and more turnovers. Again, stupid numbers since its a small sample and the numbers are close but just pointing out that there is zero evidence that a kid struggling to adjust to NBA game needs to be thrust into a starters role.

I like jimmer, he shouldn't be starting

I hate salmons, he should be starting

The Salmons hate is getting a little crazy

yes he’s sucked but so has the entire team with a few exceptions. Scapegoating Salmons is just an easy way for fans to vent their frustrations about losing. If the Kings were 8/4 rather than 4/8 but Salmons was playing the same way he has been, no one would be this hard on Salmons.

On the other hand,

he is the worst performing player on a bad team while making the most money. I certainly understand the angst that is directed towards Salmons.

Scapegoating Salmons is just an easy way for fans to vent their frustrations about him sucking. If the Kings were 4/8 rather than 4/8 but Salmons was playing a lot better, no one would be this hard on Salmons.

Well said.

He deserves much of the heat he is taking, just somewhat odd that others shooting horribly and playing no defense instead get the “they need to get him more shots” and “he needs to start” or simply get no heat from many fans.
