Why does it look so hard for Jimmer to pass the ball on the perimeter?

Every time he passes it in a half court set, he is picking up his dribble, pivoting on one foot, and leaning to get the pass off.

by brobro on Jan 16, 2012 6:54 PM PST reply actions

He has a really bad tendency to jump before he passes a lot too, which I haven’t been able to highlight tonight so that’s good.

Ah! But, he didn't even play IT

Asked if the Kings had any intention of trading Cousins, basketball president Geoff Petrie said, "No."

Give it a rest, man...

Jimmer was not the problem tonight.

Smart Era, y'all.

Right.

Because we need another guy on the floor who will over-dribble.

Even though the voices aren't real, they have some pretty good ideas!

Are you considering Line Up Changes???

Smart replies:

O yeah yeah yeah…I am at that point now. Because I can’t keep waiting for guys to play great and play good because the season is too short…Its a long flight back and I gotta lot of thinking to do. I gotta do something, right now this is not working for our basketball team

Salmons, GTFO.

Sounds a little like he has been thinking about this, but wanted to see how tonight's game would go.

Dude has missed 26 Three Pointers in a Row

He more than enough of a chance to find his game. Has failed miserably.

And that might be one of the things Smart is thinking about.

by Slam_Dunk on Jan 16, 2012 7:53 PM PST up reply actions

Of course, and also Smart has to ponder that JJ Hickson has played like crap.

The two forward spots are where changes are most likely to occur. The back court spots and Cousins are safe.

Best bet for next game:

Reke
MT
Donte
JJ Hickson
Cousins

I didn't get that from Smart's post game interview tonight.

I didn’t write down his words, but he said something to the effect he was giving the guys directions for the simplest offensive executions and they still weren’t getting it. I think he sees there is a problem.

yea ur right

i think i heard that in the sound bite they played right before the post game interview

I like IT off the bench.

His energy is much appreciated. Its minutes that need to change. Sf needs to change. Donte can play D and is rebounding well as of late. I’d rather see that

So can we hit rewind

and trade the 7th pick for Tony Parker and Richard Jefferson?

by M_Shady on Jan 16, 2012 7:44 PM PST reply actions

Until the coach

Is willing to sit people down for dribbling out the shot clock and jacking up a stupid shot, or dribbling into three defenders and turning it over, or leaving their feet before passing, there will be no system. And until there is a system, we will have an ugly and unproductive offense.

The coach needs to play the players who will run the plays he calls (assuming he’s calling them, which I’m not sure of) and sit the ones who won’t or can’t.

And he needs to slap Donté every single time he jacks up a three.

Even though the voices aren't real, they have some pretty good ideas!

The worst part?

That used to apply to 1 or 2 guys. Now its the entire stinking team!

Yep.

But if Smart will pull Evans, Thornton or Salmons after a particularly bad posession, I’m pretty sure everyone will get the message.

Doubt Evans or Thorton will be pulled.

Plus he said Thornton is still recovering and getting back into the game after his injury.

Thornton is my favorite player

Bur he looks like crap this season. His attitude appears to be different this year too.

Getting his shot back

Is totally different from playing within the offense.

He over-dribbles and throws up a desperation 3? Sit him down and make him think about it.

And that goes for everyone, including Evans. No sacred cows.

by LeaguePassAddict on Jan 16, 2012 7:54 PM PST up reply actions

Absolutely

I think everyone needs to be treated the same regardless of their status on the team.
Nobody stands out as the teams leader, and until that happens, its up to Smart to regulate the game. If we had true leader a lot of this frustration would not exist IMO.

I agree, and I think the team as a whole would respect him more for it

Isn't that normal?

For people to slump back to what there used to when under pressure? All these people are creators and are used to creating.

It's lazy, low IQ basketball.

And the only pressure on them is what they put on themselves by trying to do it all.

Grinning Paul Westphal

Is just happy to be out and away from this disfuntional mess.

That's okay. He is the main player who got us into this mess.
