The Kings will never be a winning team with Evans and Thornton starting in the back court. They're shoot first pass never guards and they don't get the team involved so the front court has to create their own shots from rebounds. Last game against the Knicks they had 3 assists (Evans 2, Thornton 1). The Game against the Hornets they had 4 assists (Evans 3, Thornton 1). Jimmer had 5 assists in 21 minutes against the Hornets. What this means is the Kings are subject to the hot and cold streaks of Evans and Thornton. So they have a hot streak against the Hornets and we win. They have a cold streak against the Knicks and we lose.
This is why Jimmer should start at point and Tyreke should play SG and you bring Thornton off of the bench. This will give the Kings tempo at the point guard position. Jimmer seems to make an effort to pass first. I think some of this is Paul Westphal's fault. DeMarcus is right to be upset about the offense because Westphal doesn't give them any structure. It's like they're playing one on one basketball out there.
So, as long as Evans and Thornton are starting together in the back court, the Kings will end up with a losing season.
