"When I was at BYU, I really watched Deron Williams a lot. I want to be able to play like he does, not just how he can shoot the ball but also put it on the floor and get to the basket and pass the ball. We're a similar size; I want to try to be that type of player in the NBA."

Just shoot the damn ball kid
Practice being D-Will in the offseason

Call me crazy
But I like to see him trying to do more. His shot is going to come around. And, while at this point it would be nice just to have someone making threes, if he wants to stick around in the league, he needs to do more than that.
I think Jimmer is a guy that could really have benefited from a summer of training. You can just see him trying to process everything happening around him. Once he can spend less time trying to pick up on where he should be, and just let the game flow his shot should return.

I agree.
Jimmer’s in perhaps the most difficult position among all rookies. Fairly high expectations, bench role that includes inconsistent minutes by necessity, first time facing this level of athleticism nightly (as opposing to Kemba, who played serious AAU ball and in the Big East), already two coaches with two different offensive philosophies, no practice time and a short training camp.
Irving has the reins in CLE, and is performing marvelously. Walker’s in the same kind of role, but has more experience against NBA-level competition and a stable coaching situation. Ricky has played professionally and obviously has a great, proven coach. The big men like Kanter and Biyombo have lower expectations.
I’m fine with Jimmer finding himself this season as opposed to becoming the designated shooter from Day 1.

Yes
I’m fine with Jimmer finding himself this season as opposed to becoming the designated shooter from Day 1.
Very much so. It’s frustrating for me to see him struggling like he is. But if bad shooting forces him to add other dimensions to his game, I am okay with it.

I guess I just don't get the high expectations, I honestly thought we were all joking with the Jimmer stuff before the season started
so maybe that’s why I have a bit of disconnect with all the concern over the guy.

Definitely a lot of joking
It was fun to come up with all the Jimmer “facts.” But the truth is that you can’t be a top ten pick and not have reasonably high expectations.

I suppose I'd be a lot more concerned if he wasn't making a conserted effort to play the point.
Granted, worried about his handle, the fact that when him and Reke are paired together it’s been a little “meh” (note: haven’t checked the numbers in about a week and wouldn’t be surprised if it is a little better), and the floater stuff he does but … eh, hard to think of the right words. Despite all of that (and the first one is the big one) and the fact his shot isn’t falling, I’ve liked what he’s trying to do and there are spurts were even when his shot isn’t falling he’s done some nice things.

Franchise has a lot riding on his success.
And when you’re as famous an athlete as him, there’s a lot of pressure that wouldn’t normally be there for a No. 10 pick.
well, make no mistake
I am not assuming I am in the majority on this one

Jimmers efforts to contribute to the team besides shooting is promising
He’s trying to move the ball and get open shots for other rather than become a shot first pass last type of player which we already have enough of.
Other than JJ, there isn’t another player beside Jimmer that’s going to benefit more from Smart ball/player movement type of offense. Once Jimmer actually has some players to whom he can pass, and receive the ball back in return, his assists and pts will come.
Right now, teams aren’t even trying to rotate to cover our screeners. On screens both defenders leave the screener and double on Jimmer. No one moves to create a passing lane, and he’s stuck trying to dribble out of the double team. The screeners aren’t even rolling to the lane. So the defense isn’t concerned about Jimmer or any of our guards passing back to the screener because none of them are shooting well from distance and aren’t a threat to put the ball on the floor from 20 ft from the basket.

I also agree with many of the comments above
Jimmer needs a year to get comfortable with all of this: more passing, more defense, improve his dribbling skills, playing against faster and more athletic players. The way that both coaches have been using him, even though he’s shooting so poorly, indicates they see him to have much more potential at this level than just being a gunner.
No. Black.
35 and 31. I'm calling it now. Reke and Cousins 1-2 in most improved award both All-stars. Jimmer leads rookies in scoring, passing and Ole's. Make 2nd round of playoffs and Salmons is not here by seasons end.

Hey, might as well shoot high
Like him saying that because the only way he can go from possible solid bench guy to a future starter is at the point
Maybe this is his way of saying
he doesn’t want Sloan for a coach.

Seriously I loved Jason. But Deron Williams eats him for breakfast.

Interesting, from same column
The Kings rallied past Indiana on Wednesday night for a 92-88 home win despite shooting just 30.1 percent from the field. The last time anyone shot that poorly and won anyway was Oct. 29, 2003, when Denver shot 29.2 percent and still claimed an 80-72 victory over the Spurs. Sacramento is just the fifth team since 1985-86 to win a regular-season game despite shooting 30.1 percent or worse.
Smart Era, y'all.
I really watched Deron Williams a lot. I want to be able to play like he does,
haha, he must have watched the “DRon playin on the moon” tapes?

Listen to your coach kid.
He should
Focus more on being like Luke Ridnour for now. Once he accomplishes that then work on being like Deron Williams.

LoL
I’d rather Tyreke work on being Magic & Fredette work on playing like Jimmer at BYU. Shoot the damn ball with confidence when ur open. Otherwise go to the Bighorns

In the last game
Jimmer missed some shots that were good looks and because he shot when he was supposed to shoot advantageous offensive rebounds occurred, which I believe is a s sign of good offensive movement. Sometimes when players pump fake they mess up rebounding position, because the rebounder shows their hand and is blocked out. I think Jimmer will put it together and thats coming from someone who saw him live the first four games and was shaking my head a plenty when his head fake, dribble, jump stop, trapped oh shit what do I do was occurring constantly.
I am rooting hard for Jimmer
was hoping he would bring some J Will excitement. But I am getting worried about him. Crowd him and make him put it on the deck and he struggles, don’t help when he drives and make him finish, double him in pick and roll. Easy to guard right now.
He should hope to be JJ Redick one day
because I have a feeling that’ll be the best he’ll be
MY NAME'S AL HARRINGTON, I GET BUCKETS
This figures
Fredette is overrated, just like Williams. Shoulda drafted Kemba, or Marshon Brooks.

Actually it's Reke who I want to emulate Williams
And what does he mean they are similar size? Like… in height? cuz D-will could bench Jimmer with one arm
