The New Orleans Hornets are actively trying to trade center Chris Kaman
The Hornets have deactivated him and are actively trying to get rid of Kamen to let the young guys play. $14m is a lot for the remainder of this season. But is it worth it? I'm assuming we wouldn't have to give up much.

Just to be clear
They can’t amnesty him and they want to let the young guys play and dump his salary. So a team would need to either have cap space (us), a trade exception, or pieces that NO would actually want to take back. If we want him, this seems like a great way to use our cap space.

We don't have that much cap space do we?

Just over $9m
Sou we would need to trade away about $4.5m to make it work

I read
On some analysts twitter that the Hornets are horribe to deal with right now, they’re expecting to get young players, draft picks and cap space with with Kaman. But if they took Salmons, JJ, and a 2nd rounder i’d do it. I wonder if Ariza is obtainable?

well that deal is sorry for the Hornets after i think about it
I forget Thornton makes almost 8 mil and is a young stud. They would probably want Thornton, JJ, and a pick. But he could easily walk at the end of the season is I don’t know if that’s good for us.

If they are looking for cap space and youngs
Salmons probably isn’t going to happen. But something like Outlaw, JJ, second rounder and cap space? We wouldn’t need JJ if we kept Kaman, and it would make the Casspi trade look slightly less embarrassing..

Forgot we can't trade Outlaw this year
Okay what about JJ, Donte, and Second Rounder?

ESPN Trade machine says this is a no go
Someone explain this to me. I thought that since we are well under the cap, we don’t have to worry about matching salaries.

I think the new CBA
Has a new rule where you can’t take back more than 3 mil of what you’re sending out a season.

I may be wrong
Who knows? That’s sad that when I wake up in the morning I start thinking of trade ideas for the Kings

The machine approved
Whiteside, JJ, and Donte.

It also approved Francisco, JJ and Donte. I think this would be better for the Hornets, even though they are taking on longer money, Francisco could do pretty well there IMO
I like waiting till after 02/12 and doing a Jarret Jack, Kaman and Xavier henry trade for Salmons, Greene, Francisco and Hickson trade

I think hes a good upgrade
And NO would probably try to listen to other offers before taking that 1, but if that’s the best they could do its good for us. The 1st trade I said was horrible, I forget how bad salmons is to go along with his 8 mil contract and try to include him in every deal. Him and Cousins would be a very good frontcourt and he would open up our offense a bit. Our defense would still be horrible though.

Agreed
So played with the trade machine a little more. If we trade Green and JJ, we need to add one more piece no matter how small. Honeycutt would do it.

Sorry too early in the morning
Meant to say JJ, Donte, and Whiteside, plus a second rounder for Kaman works. It save NO $10m or so this season. Gives them a young Whiteside and two expirings that they can keep or not.

The interesting thing is that ESPN says
The Hornets were in talks to extend his contract, but decided that wasn’t the direction they wanted to go. So we ought to be able to work out some kind of extension deal as part of the trade.

Salmons & JJ for Kaman & Ariza is a reasonable deal
1 year of Kaman & 1 year of Ariza equals the amount Salmons is owed for the length of his contract so they wouldn’t be taking on additional salary & they get a young player in JJ. We get out coveted SF.

NUDA Rule forbids.
Kings cannot trade for Cris Kaman because of the NUDA Rule. Somewhere it is written and codified, No Ugly Dudes Allowed.
Sorry, can’t happen.
Asked if the Kings had any intention of trading Cousins, basketball president Geoff Petrie said, "No."
An exception was made for Hedo since he was the first Turkish born player in NBA history.
I wasn’t aware that Sam Cassell played for the Kings. When was that?

Too bad that wasn't passed before the Salmons trade
Would have saved us a ton of pain.

Rather have Okafor.
They may bite on a deal that would land them a talented project or two and drop their payroll. My thought:
DET GETS: C Hassan Whiteside, SG Xavier Henry
SAC GETS: C/PF Emeka Okafor, PF/C Ben Wallace
NOH GETS: PF/C Jason Thompson, SF/SG John Salmons, Conditional First (from SAC)
Detroit does this deal to get a backup SG to potentially deal Gordon and a cheap project at C to replace an aging and virtually ineffective Wallace. NOH gets a nice, affordable project at PF, allowing them to move Kaman to his more natural fit at C. Salmons slides in as a starting SF, a position they have been lacking all year. Most importantly, this deal moves them under the luxury tax level. The first is a perk, and they can amnesty Salmons. The Kings do this to get a real defensive option at PF and instantly add size to both PF and C, which helped tremendously with Dally and DC last year. Wallace is a nice expiring down the line and a veteran mentor during practice for our bigs. This allows Greene or Outlaw to start at SF, barring the Kings signing Chandler or AK (my dream scenario).
New Starting 5:
C: Cousins
PF: Okafor
SF: Chandler (Dream)
PG: Evans
SG: Thornton
6th: Hayes, PF/C
