Kings vs. Warriors: WAKA WAKA
We both still stink, y'all.
G State and Sactown, stuck here
in the dark basement.
Sacramento Kings at Golden State Warriors
7:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet California
The Kings had reason to believe that they'd be better this year. So did the Warriors.
Son of a bitch.
We have their old coach now, drawing this sad rivalry into a new zone of uncomfortable familiarity. The games are fun, but thinking about the teams sure isn't. The Warriors are getting marvelous work from Monta Ellis and a bounceback from David Lee and ... sit at 6-12. The Kings have seen DeMarcus Cousins become a machine and are getting something out of Jimmer Fredette and ... sit at 6-14. Even when things go right, they don't seem to go right enough.
To have these teams good together would be magic. We see what's happening in L.A. with the Lakers and Clippers, building a truly local rivalry that dominates the news cycle when they play. That'd be wonderful up here, a real Sactown-Bay rivalry in the only place there can really be a rivalry. How many more decades do we need before it comes together?
In the meantime, we find comfort in what are usually hilariously head-shaking games. Let's hope Mark Jackson doesn't grind this one down too much, and let's hope Keith Smart's got something for his old team.
Game at 7:30. Game threads at 7:30 and 9. Let's go Kings!

See Aykis, this is why we call you a pessimist
Just change your perspective a bit and BAM….

How do you like us now Clippers?!?!?! Enjoy that cellar.

How did the Clips end up in 2nd with a .666 win percentage and the other LA team end up on top with .571
Are we so used to the Redated being in 1st place that we don’t question it anymore?

Good ovservation
I thought I was going crazy. After calling out the Clippers I saw the Lakers were at the top of the chart.

You can drop the act, we all know your big secret

Aykis: Now answer me, why do people think that I’m you?
Ziller: I think you know.
Aykis: Uh… I… I don’t know.
Ziller: You got it.
Aykis: No.
Ziller: Say it.
Aykis: Because…
Ziller: Say it.
Aykis: Because we’re the same person.
Ziller: That’s right.

Let's make it 3 in a row
The Warriors are in 13th place in the West just a game ahead of the Kings. They are 4-7 at home and 2-5 on the road. Last season under Coach Smart, Golden State had a record of 36-46 and a 10-game improvement from the previous season. Under new coach Mark Jackson, the Warriors are on pace to win 22 games this season. With 11 of their 18 games being at home, you’d expect more wins than that. But, 13 of those 18 games were against +.500 teams, and when you factor in that Curry missed 9 Gms with an ankle sprain, Brown missed 8 Gms with a torn pectoral muscle, and Biedrins missed 3 Gms with a foot problem, the Warriors are probably better than their record shows.
GS has the same 5 starters as last season; Biedrins at Center, David Lee & Dorell Wright at the Forwards and Curry & Ellis in the backcourt. They added Kawame Brown and Dominic McGuire in free agency, and added 6-7 SG Klay Thompson, 6-10 PF Jeremy Tyler, and 6-3 PG/SG Charles Jenkins thru the draft. There other reserves are last year’s #1 draft pick 6-10 PF Ekpe Udoh, 6-6 SG/SF Brandon Rush drafted in 2008, free agent SF Chris Wright and guard Ishmael Smith. Brown has missed the last 8 games and isn’t expected to play against the Kings
The Kings have a 2 game winning streak against this same starting 5, going back to March 14th 2011. Tyreke was still recovering from his FP treatment, when the Kings won 129-119 at PBP. Thornton scored 42 and Dalembert had his career high of 27. The Kings attacked inside outscoring GS 66-38 in the paint. Sac had a 7pt lead in Fast Break Pts, had a total rebounding advantage of 18 and plus 7 on the offensive glass. The last Kings win was in Oakland on April 14, 2011 when the Kings squeaked out a 104-103 road victory. This time GS held a slight edge in the paint and the FB pts were even. The Kings held a 9 reb advantage but the Warriors turned an advantage on the offensive boards and 23 Kings Turnovers into 19 more FGA’s. Thornton’s 22 ft jumper with 12 seconds left gave the Kings a 4 pt margin, which Curry cut to 1 hitting a 3 with 1.8 left. But, it was the Kings 11 pts advantage at the FT line on 12 more attempts that turned the tide.
The Kings did lose in Oakland in Pre-Season, but they were without Cuz who got a DNP-CD from Westphal, Hayes was out for his heart test, and Salmons missed the game with a Quad Contusion. A couple of interesting stats from that game; the Kings shot 13-28 for 46% from three. Thornton was 3-6, Jimmer was 4-6, Greene was 3-5, and IT was 2-4 while Garcia and Evans were 1-7. Also, Hassan got some burn in this game, with 2pts on 1-3 shooting, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist in 12:23.
GS shoots about the league average in attempts and percentages from all ranges except from three pt where they take more and make them at a higher percentage. In the last four games, the Warriors shot 38 of 84 or .452 from beyond the arc. Klay Thompson ranks second among rookies in three-point percentage and has hit 9-of-17 (.529) over the last 4 games. Defensively, we’ll have to guard Curry, Thompson, Rush and Dorell Wright beyond the 3pt line. That’s going to leave the pressure on our bigs to protect the lane on their own which isn’t exactly their strong suit.
Last season with Houston, Hayes had a rebounding advantage against the Warriors in 3 out of 4 games. In his recent absence, the Kings were out rebounded in 8 of 10 games. Sac will need him to repeat that kind of effort and they’ll need to get to the long rebounds off GS’s missed 3’s if we are going to control the boards. GS gives up a lot of assisted baskets at the rim, if the Kings attack the paint they can create easy baskets, and they’ll draw more fouls leading to FT’s. The Warriors have a record of 4-1 when they have held opponents under 42.0 percent from the field, but they are 1-8 when their opponent scores >100 pts. If we defend the 3pt line and attack the paint, this is a very winnable road game.

just so you don't fall into the chasm
Tim’s previews tend to be a tad bit biased. As in way over the top the Wolves are going 82-0 and the other team they are playing is dog shit but funny as hell sometimes.

good gravy
It’s mystery time warp time, back to when things were better, and Mitch was beating the warriors with an off-the-glass 3 pointer to sneak the Kings into the 8th seed.

To have these teams good together would be magic.
haha, probably best way to do that is combine the rosters and move the team to Cordelia?
I’m gonna enjoy this game as there will be no loser. The team with less points moves closer to a good draft spot in a great draft year and the other gets to brag.

I know you guys don't need any more Jimmer news
But just met with the publisher who is doing a Jimmer book coming out this fall. Sounds like it’s going to be pretty good.
It comes down to reality
And it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide
Will they be using your photoshop gif on the front or the back cover?

GO KINGS!
Tyreke and Jimmer will be lighting it up tonight, I got dat feelin’! Hickson, if you’re reading this, stop shooting fade away jumpers, please stop it. TYIA and since that tip will only help you, YWIA. Kings over the Dubs 101-98
Really hoping the Kings can go 2-1 over these next three games
3-0 is possible, with playing how the warriors are playing and finally getting portland away from home.
Things I’m hoping for this game:
Jimmer continues his streak of 10+ point games
Tyreke knocks off back to back great performances
Cousins goes beast mode against a team who has no chance in hell of stopping him.

En Route!
Tonight is my first NBA baasketball outside of Arco. I cannot wait to see Oracle and compare it to PBP. I’m hoping the Kings grab a W on their home away from home.
My Employer is a corporate sponsor for the Warriors so they bought tickets for the San Francisco office and Sacramento office for the game.
Ill try to take pictures and FanPost it tomorrow.

Oracle is amazingly overpriced and I think it's much too big
It’s my home arena being from the Bay Area, but I totally prefer Arco and it’s intimate feeling. I’ll miss it when we have a new ESC

It's sad when you feel like you have to "steal one" from the Warriors
I remember when a trip to Oakland was practically a guaranteed W.
I'm feeling good about this one guys
My twin boys were born about 8 hours ago, we named them Jimmer and Fred(not sure my wife knows this yet) and good things always come in 3’s(like Jimmer for instance). So This is our night! Plus Jimmer always goes off on the warriors since they don’t play any defense.

Lol I know Jimmer scored 20 against them in the preseason..who knows might go for 40 tonight. or better yet 50 and establish himself as a future halloffamer and a reason to move tyreke to the 3.

Why is it that the Warriors feel they need to start their games at 7:30?
Is it because they are 30 minutes closer to the Pacific? I guess they are the farthest west team.
Nope just looked it up... Portland is technically farther west.
Oakland: 122.22W
Portland: 122.60W
Just in case you wanted to know.
