Doing Lines, 1/6/12 (Abbreviated Friday Night Version)

Keith Smart's band of trained assassins get the night off, but 24 teams play on, with the visiting teams going 7-5 -

  • Marc Gasol scored 21 points (9-15 field), grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 6 shots in a 94-85 loss to the Jazz in Utah. O.J. Mayo was 3-12 in 26 minutes off the bench for the Grizz.
  • Kevin Durant had a solid 26 points on 10-16 shooting, and James Harden added 23 points on 8-11 shooting (2-2 from 3 and 5-5 line) as the Thunder protected their home floor against the Rockets, 109-94. Goran Dragic scored 10 points with 11 assists (0 turnovers) for the Rockets, as he replaced Kyle Lowry, who did not play after being charged with battery in Las Vegas (stemming from an incident that took place back in September).
  • Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng and Derrick Rose each scored at least 20 points, Boozer and Joakim Noah each grabbed double digit boards (10 and 13, respectively), and Rose added 10 assists (4 turnovers) as the Bulls went into Orlando and came away with a 97-83 victory. Kyle Korver added 18 on 6-8 shooting (5-7 from 3). Dwight Howard tallied 28 and 15, but the rest of the Magic shot 33% from the floor.
  • Cleveland 98, Minnesota 87, at Minnesota. A 13/12 double double for Anderson Varejao for the Cavs, while Kevin Love posted 29/14 for the T-Wolves.
  • Nuggets 96, Hornets 88, in New Orleans. Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza missed the game for New Orleans with injuries.
  • Indiana upset the Celtics in Boston 87-74. Paul Pierce was 3-17 field for the Celtics.
  • The Hawks beat the Bobcats in overtime in Charlotte, 102-96. 23 and 13 for Atlanta's Josh Smith, while D.J. Augustin scored 21 and chipped in 12 assists (1 turnover) for Charlotte. Byron Mullens scored 17 for Charlotte - he is now averaging 10.7 points on 56% shooting in 17 minutes per game.
  • New Jersey found a win in Canada, defeating Toronto 97-85. MarShon Brooks sat with an ankle injury, so Deron Willams and Anthony Morrow combined for 48 points (24 each).
  • Washington is now 0-7 as they played welcoming host to the Knicks, 99-96. Carmelo and Amare had 60 points on 54 shots, with the rest of the team scoring 39 on 35. Chris Singleton had a nice 12 point, 7 board game in 27 bench minutes for the Wiz.
  • Philadelphia defended their home floor with a 96-73 win over Detroit. Spencer Hawes with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks, but he was 0-1 from 3 point range (gasp!). Hawes is now averaging 13 and 11 on the season, with better than 2 blocks per game.
  • Phoenix earned a home win against Portland, 102-77. The starting front line for Portland (Aldridge/Camby/Wallace) combined to shoot 7-25 floor (28%), and Jamal Crawford (3-14) and Nicolas Batum (4-13) shot a shared 26% off the bench.
  • The Warriors lost to the NaClippers.
