Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The Kings will play their second preseason game on Monday, taking on the Blazers in Sacramento.
The Sacramento Kings, 1-0 on the preseason, will get after it again on Monday as the Portland Trail Blazers visit ARCO Arena. The game will not be televised locally or on NBA TV. Tickets are extremely cheap. KHTK 1140 AM will also have the broadcast.
We don't know yet who will start for the Kings, but it has been reported consistently since Friday that there will indeed be a new starting five. If I had to hazard a guess based on the quotes following the preseason opener against Phoenix, I'd predict James Johnson slots in at small forward, either moving Tyreke Evans to the two-guard or to the sixth man role. Keith Smart could also shake up the frontcourt by inserting Thomas Robinson at power forward. We'll see.
Portland has two preseason games under its belt. On Friday, the Blazers lost to the Suns, but rookies Damian Lillard and Meyers Leonard appeared to have played well. They'll be the fellas to watch, in addition to Adam Morrison (fighting for his NBA career) and Luke Babbitt (this is the year)!
I'd expect Aaron Brooks to get a bit more time; this will be a busy week for the Kings, so Smart might start resting his obvious rotation players a bit more than usual.
The game's at 7 p.m. We'll have a game thread then.
