Kings vs. Suns: Sacramento's preseason winds down

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

The Kings have two more preseason games remaining. On Monday, they visit the Suns.

The Kings are a smoking 4-1 in preseason so far, on Sunday beating a Lakers team that was clearly trying to win. On Monday, the Kings will play a team they've already beaten, the Phoenix Suns, though this one will come on the road as Sacramento stays south.

Keith Smart has indicated he'll begin prepping his projected rotation in the final preseason games, so we're likely to see plenty of the top eight players on Monday. That would have been the case on Sunday if not for foul trouble; Hamady N'Diaye ended up with some long burn, and the prospect of being short up front might actually save his roster spot. The Kings could keep N'Diaye as insurance, especially since you can't sign 10-day contracts for a couple months. Sunday's experience with Dwight Howard and the referees might tilt those scales.

Aaron Brooks might be challenging Isaiah Thomas for that starting spot (or at least the minutes balance) after all, so that'll be a situation to watch (well, follow via the game thread and live box score) on Monday. The game's at 7 p.m. No local or national TV. The game thread will be around at 7, in this StoryStream and in the No. 2 spot on the front page.
