News from training camp: Tyreke Evans will still be used at point guard at times and Jimmer Fredette is taking up the leadership mantle.

Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports from Colorado Springs that we have not really seen the end of the Tyreke Evans Point Guard Experience after all. While it's assumed that Isaiah Thomas will remain the starting point guard, Keith Smart told reporters that Evans will indeed be asked to play some point guard this season.

In addition to that, Smart says that he'd asked Jimmer Fredette -- for whom the job the starting point guard was there for the taking last year, until, uh, Isaiah Thomas took it -- to be more vocal and assertive this year. So far, so good.

"Jimmer is much more vocal than he was last year," Smart said. "Again, being comfortable with some of the guys around him, being comfortable with what I want him to do. So his leadership role is starting to move in, but that is a tough thing."

The starting PG spot does still appear to belong to Isaiah, but our assumptions that Aaron Brooks will be playing over Jimmer might not be quite right. We'll know more when preseason begins next week.
