I can follow them, that's easy thanks to the internet. Support them?
It is very very difficult to "support" the Kings currently. I have been a fan since they moved to Sacramento. It was my first experience rooting for a professional sports team. Throughout the many lean years leading up to the Kings flirtation with a championship around 2002 there was always a sense of pride amidst the frustration. I cared about the team. Now I am simply embarrassed by and for them. It is no longer a matter of the Kings as a team simply needing to catch some breaks. They are the worst run franchise in sports. The ownership is beyond laughingstock, it is a black eye on the city and the NBA. The Maloofs should not be able to use an NBA team as a placeholder for their ridiculous pursuits of fame and fly by night fortune attempts. They have no respect for the game or for the city of Sacramento and I'm sure they could not tell you any particular notable facts about the sport of basketball. They are beyond stubborn and clearly do not have the intelligence or passion to redirect this mess of a franchise. I no longer live in Sacramento, I haven't for some time, I live in LA. For all that the Lakers do that frustrate the average fan (especially a Kings fan) I see that this franchise is run with a clear passion for excellence and winning championships. Yes, it happens to be run in one of the largest media markets in the world, but it's the respect that the owners clearly have for the fans and for the legacy of their team that is palpable ,not the resources at their disposal. You will never see anything close to that from the Maloof family. You will only see a poorly constructed talented roster filled with high draft picks and players plucked out of free agency by a GM who operates with his hands tied and mouth duct taped. Both the owners and the GM need to go, immediately! In my humble opinion. If I am someone who has loved the Kings for so many years and I can look at them with such disgust and shame, then imagine what the casual fan must think. For years I would curse under my breath at the John Hollinger's or Chad Ford's of the world at how callously they looked down at Sacramento, they seem to always be mocking our beloved Kings in one way or another. No I understand why.
