Final Score: Kings clobber the Lakers 113-97 to end losing streak

Ezra Shaw

Kings fans finally have something to be thankful for. Sacramento bounced back from a slow start to finish with their best offensive performance of the year, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 113-97. The Kings set season-highs in multiple categories including points and FG%. Six Kings finished in double-digits, led by Marcus Thornton's 23 points off the bench. Thornton hit several big shots down the stretch as Sacramento increased their scoring output during each quarter of the game, all the way to scoring 40 in the 4th quarter.

If it weren't for Kobe Bryant and Jodie Meeks, the Lakers would have been in even bigger trouble. Bryant scored a game-high 38 points, including five three pointers, and Meeks added 15 points off the bench. But no other Lakers really stepped up. Metta World Peace was the next highest scorer with 13 points, and Dwight Howard scored just 7 points and took just 4 shots in nearly 41 minutes.

The Kings received huge contributions across the entire board. Even Jimmer Fredette, who played just 8 seconds in the game, had a nice assist to Jason Thompson to end the first half. Jason Thompson and Chuck Hayes had huge games against the Lakers' vaunted bigs. Thompson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards while helping hold Pau Gasol to just 8 points. Chuck Hayes also scored 10 points off the bench and provided his usual staunch defense.

This was a much needed win for both the team and fans that couldn't have come at a better time or against a better opponent. A more comprehensive recap will follow shortly, but for now, everybody dance!
