An anonymous source has indicated that the Maloofs met with the governor of Virginia regarding potential relocation.
In an article appearing today in the Virgina Pilot, an anonymous source states that the Maloof family recently met with the governor of Virginia. Warren Harris, the Virginia Beach director of economic development, confirmed that the city has recently met with representatives of an NBA team interested in relocating, but declined to name the team.
Virginia Beach still lacks an NBA-caliber arena (then again, so does Sacramento), but the city expects an update next week regarding the status of talks with Live Nation and Comcast Spectacor regarding arena funding, according to the Bee.
The Kings organization reiterated their stance of not commenting on relocation rumors, which is just as assuring for Kings fans as ever. With Virginia Beach confirming talks with an NBA team, and a complete lack of other franchises considered candidates for relocation, it hardly seems an extreme leap of logic to reach the conclusion that the team in question is the Kings.
