All Grant wanted was an admission from Chris Webber that he gave the wrong information regarding the arena issue on the TNT broadcast. C-Webb doesn't even give Grant a chance to say anything. There's a link to audio.

Asked if the Kings had any intention of trading Cousins, basketball president Geoff Petrie said, "No."

CWebb shows lack of professionalism.

I guess this guy will never really grow up. He always blows things up bigger then what they are. A real man owns up to their mistakes. He didnt even want to know what mistake he made. I think Chris just showed his true colors. To bad because I honestly think he just doesn’t know any better. He doesn’t want to be confused by the facts because he already has his mind made up.

Yes, Webber's mind is made up--he doesn't like Rant Napear.

"He forced it to go in the net, and that's a good thing."

"Generally speaking, the ball is the only thing that can score."

Weird...if you insert Napear into the _____ for the name

It almost like it fits! Fancy that. As good a broadcaster as he is, Grant has the biggest tendency to blow things up bigger than what they are (case in point today), never owns up or will admit a mistake, and always has his mind made up.

At first I thought Grant and Chris were spoofing the whole episode after Chris said "first of all

congrats on your Giants so we can get that out of the way" and he and Grant shared a few chuckles. Then Chris seemed to be mildly perturbed and a little embarrassed by the episode but then his mood seem to sour completely when he said to Grant “see this is why our relationship is like this” meaning possibly Grant’s barbs about Chris dating back to when he was a King. However, Chris must have known that the gaff not only he made but also the other announcers was fairly significant and then he basically threw a tantrum over Grant’s huevos for even bringing it up. However, when Grant kept harping “Don’t hang up!” I thought that Grant himself was going to cut him off and make it seem like Chris hung up. Absolutely the most bizarre episode in Kings history to date.

I like how we're getting mad at Webber for doing to Peaches what Peaches does to everyone else.

This whole thing is being way overblown. In fact, the one person who we should be mad at is Reggie Miller, as he essentially called Kevin Johnson a liar. Grant could have spent his show talking about how well the Kings played, and how great the night was, but instead focused on what was really a mistake that in the long run doesn’t matter a single bit. TNT could have outright said that the Kings are moving to Anaheim, that Travis Outlaw was an All-Star, and it doesn’t change the facts one bit.

Let's not go to far down that road about what Reggie said about KJ

Either way both Webber and Miller were just straight up ignorant on the vote. It happens and it happens too often. Does it deserve a correction? Well yeah it does. Does it require an apology? No. Does it require someone to apologize on a radio guy’s show after said radio guy go goes full blast acting like it’s the end of the world for two hours and it’s the same radio guy who ripped you a new one for having a hurt knee years ago? Good luck with that one.

And this will accomplish nothing. Absolutely nothing. Is Webber way too sensitive here? Yeah, I think so. He clearly doesn’t need to stoop to Grant’s level here. But he ain’t the only one being way too sensitive here and now I am not implying it’s Grant.

The whole thing from Grant's perspective is pretty damn concieted.

I don’t know who elected him Imperator of the city of Sacramento’s honor in the first place. I mean this city that he is “passionately defending” is the same one he shit on continuously for the better part of the last year.

Grant's got to be loving it

Everyone’s talking about his lame radio show now.

Mission accomplished.

oh and he shit on the Mayor and the Council members who wanted to keep the feasability study going even when it looked like the Kings would leave

Make no mistake, the guy is about as nuanced as a 12 gauge shotgun. No concept of big picture at all. So wound up in himself and his ratings and his little world.

I missed the game.

I listened to the soundbite.
I’m still not clear.
What did TNT get wrong? What mistake did Webb make?

They thought the parking vote from the city council...

…to prevent it from going to a public vote that was shot down 5-4 was actually a failed vote for the arena. It was a mistake and it’s still confusing the way it’s drafted up. Its all adieu about nothing. I think this is more pent up frustration by Chris over the douchey-ness of Grant as an individual.

I was the same way.

When I read the vote failed it took me a significant amount of time to figure out whether that was good or bad. I’m just stupid that way.

by ResetSmith on Feb 11, 2012 5:37 AM PST up reply actions

Chris seemed legitimately hurt that people of Sacramento were possibly upset with him. I’m sure he got a little bit of backlash for his comments last night. At the same point, Grant was just trying to get some clarification for the remarks Chris made last night.

Lets not forget how much both these men care about the city and the team! Guys, we love you BOTH!

We have to keep our expectations of Webber realistic

Its good enough that he has gone out of his way multiple times to keep Sacramento’s name in the national spotlight during this whole arena ordeal. We can’t expect him to be 100% up to date with all the details of votes and whatnot though, he has other responsibilities and concerns to deal with. There is no incentive for him in giving Sacramento the support he has, so lets save the pitch forks and torches for the real villains and cut Webber a little slack.

When it comes down to it, there is only one retired NBA player who needs to be on the ball 100% of the time and completely aware of every minute fact of the arena: Kevin Johnson (and he’s doing a great job).

Honestly, what does Webber really need to be aware of?

I don’t think being a TNT braodcaster should be that hard of a job

by rmgordon4 on Feb 11, 2012 12:24 AM PST up reply actions

He's got a life

The point is that there is nothing that requires him to stay on top of things in Sacramento at this point, and to expect more out of him is unrealistic.

If we wanted to a legit reason to dog him we could focus on that shoutout to ‘mama’ Maloof he gave :D

by Ronacin on Feb 11, 2012 12:36 AM PST up reply actions

Exactly this

look, I get wanting a correction but this sounds like people are demanding a damn apology like he wronged us or something. Complete bullshit.

Two steps forward, one step back

but Reggie Miller and TNT will get the full force of my twittering wrath

by PurpleHurts on Feb 11, 2012 2:44 AM PST reply actions

it was a great win. lets enjoy it . seems like some folks always gotta have beef even in victory. they were uninformed and will look foolish for it, but its not going to change the facts of where the area situation is. remember the best revenge is living well; and in this case locking down the arena and enjoying Kings games for years to come and RM and the TnT crew will be reminded of there ignorance every time they announce a game here.
