Jj Hickson

Hickson is not a bad player at all. He's simply not doing well because he's not playing his strengths. He needs to play like amare stoudemire. Playing the pick and roll ,attacking the basket off the ball, alley oops, and the occasional jump shot because he can actually shoot but he does too much of it.hickson has a lot of potential he just needs to know his limits. And the fumbled ball against the wolves you gotta understand when there's barely any time on the clock you don't really expect the ball passed to you; not to mention there was 3 people in the area which gave him a bad view

For example,

During the Knicks game last night, Jimmer got doubled, threw a nice pass to JJ down low that JJ fumbled for a turnover.

I’m sure he can play and overcome the low BB-IQ if he learns how to catch and dunk, but so far I haven’t seen any of that.

It's not that JJ is the worst player on this team...

It’s that we traded a draft pick and a half-decent SF for him. I’d have really liked to see Omri progress with us, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

The thing about camping is... Its intense.

The draft pick is the killer part of the deal.

Exactly.

I’m rooting for us to win every game but in this draft it kills me to see us losing out on one of these players.

I can respect a little defense of Hicksons name

he is legitimately good in the areas of rebounding and finishing in the open court and as an alley-oop target (which is an actual weapon)

any area besides that he has been quite terrible, and really really HASNT been playing to his strengths, he’s been playing to his weaknesses, i’ve never seen anybody play to their weaknesses so bad before, it crazy

Sadly, you are all too correct

I thought Hickson would have a nice role here as an offensive big off the bench. Sub him in when Cousins needs a breather and stil keep the offense flowing from inside. You’d think he and Jimmer could get a nice P&R game going. Is this coaching? Are the players too young/incompetent to run plays? I was a fan of the trade at the time (and really, Casspi hasn’t done much since either) but the absolute zero we’ve gotten from Hickson this season speaks to this season’s failures as much as anything.

if the Jeremy Lin story has taught us anything its that a payer needs to be in the right situation and he can thrive, but if not the right system, he can look awful.

Phoenix

If he played with a PG like Nash (or Lin) he would be a solid player, rolling to the basket to finish at the basket, running lanes, crashing the boards for offensive rebounds aand tip dunks. I think he is a phenomenol athlete with a limited appreciation of what he needs to do or doesn’t want to do to get better. Not a big fan as he doesn’t seem to really be getting better even when he has been given the opportunity to do so

I meant to put protected first rounder

what’s the condition on it?

The draft pick is lottery-protected next year, top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014 and top-10 protected from 2015-17. If the Cavs don’t receive the pick by 2017, they will receive a second-round pick.
