is like a breath of fresh air breathing new life into the Sacramento Kings
team. Apart from his departure in coaching style from the fired Paul Westphal
, Smart also brings greater openness and transparency evident in his body language. In short, he says a lot with his hands.
Contrast this openness of expression, with his wide reaching arms to this:
This seems to reflect more a closed stance.
Sure, these are completely different different body postures, depicting two completely different emotional states, in completely different circumstances. But, I think that as fans, we became far more accustomed to seeing the "closed" Paul Westphal in contrast to the more "open" Smart.
Fairly easy to see which person you might prefer to get guidance from.
It is interesting to observe Smart in how he expresses himself with his body. He uses his hands a lot.
Not sure what he is saying here with his body language, but there is energy in his arms and hands. Makes me think of galloping horses...telling his players to pick up the pace?
He likes to point a lot.
Not sure where his point is going...
Is this flashing a "secret" play?
His hands don't seem to impress the ref too much, though.
Is he the maestro, trying to get his point across?
Sometimes, he doesn't even need to say a word to get his point across.
So, at the end of the day, or rather, the middle of the season, Coach Smart has been a joy to watch coaching his team from the side lines.
It is the end of the line for Westphal in Sacramento, who is left to plead his case, to whomever will listen.
