Seattle now prime candidate to land Kings next year?
There was a story posted earlier today on CNNSI stating that the city of Seattle may attempt to land the Kings as soon as next season if the arena deal falls apart. While part of me thinks Sacramento has worked too hard and is so close to making the arena financing finally come to reality, it all hinges on the parking revenue falling through, no guarantee at this point. And if it doesn't, I really think the NBA would fully support having a team back in Seattle as soon as possible. This situation bears close monitoring over the next several months for sure. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

All this article says is that there is a potential buyer who would be interested in moving a team to Seatle… That said nothing has been done with the arena issue or anything, we have to have funding in place to keep team here, NBA would never consider moving a team to a similiar situation where no adequate arena exists or the plans to build w/ the required funding mechanism
Seattle has talked about getting a team back as soon as the Supersonics left but until they get the arena issue taken care of there will be team there. With Sacramento the league was/is trying to do everything they can to avoid a repeat of Seattle here, IMHO this is all smoke and mirrors

I just don't want to read anymore of these articles
I’ve been a Kings fan for as long as I can remember. For as long as I’ve been a Kings fan they’ve been in Sacramento. I’m a loyal Kings fan whether it’s win or lose. In Reke’s rookie year I fulfilled one of my goals and became a Kings season ticket holder. I will always represent my loyalty to this team no matter where they are next season. I know I might get hammered for that last statement but that’s just how I feel. At the end of the day, relocation or moving of a team is nothing new to any professional sports league. The Kings weren’t an expansion team that just sprouted out of Sacramento, we took them away from KC. We have to remember that this is a business and what is happening is as much as the Kings fans fault as it is ownership, IMO. We had our chances to get something done, for instance a few years back with a minimal sales tax (I believe it was sales tax) increase and voters rejected it. Then the Kings go into rebuilding mode and have been a losing team for the past 3-4 years and what do we do as fans? We don’t go to games. Please don’t come at me with all that recession talk because we’re all hurting from that. That news is old and I’m tired of hearing that as an excuse. I was unemployed for almost the whole season last season and I still went to more than a hand full of games. As a life long Kings fan, I hope the Kings stay in Sacramento and I hope Sacramento gets the new arena plan approved and built. But, if things turn out on the negative side I don’t know who I would put the blame on more, Kings owners or the fans.
Go ahead and hate on me for what I just put down if you want. I’m just stating my opinions and how I feel as a Kings fan. Does anyone feel the same way I do?
I let people run their mouths while I run my business.
Agreed
It could simply be a bad combination of things all happening at the worst time: Bad team, bad economy, bad building, and quite frankly bad owners, all occurring simultaneously, that have led to the current funk we are all in right now. Sometimes things just don’t happen the way we all want or need them to, but through it all we have to continue to be fans no matter where the team plays next year.
Both Sacramento and Las Vegas were hit hard by the economic downturn, and this has impacted the city’s, the fans and the owners’ pocketbooks all at the same time. I keep telling myself that we have to be in for a change of luck soon, which should finally help to turn things around in the right direction on at least one of these fronts to help keep the team here. But no matter what, I’ll always support them too, no matter where the Kings end up.
That is a really great way to look at it SK4E
The whole relocation and new arena mess is out of the fans hands now. We had our chance and all we can do now is hope that it all pans out for us in the end. I just don’t like it when I hear that Kings fans will not be Kings fans anymore if the team is gone. Yes they might be in a new city and will probably sport a new name if they go, but as much as I am a fan of the name on the front of the jersey, I am more of a fan with the name on the back of the jersey. People or fans are entitled to their own opinions and if they do not want to be fans of this team if they move, then that is completely on them but will also show what kind of fans they really are.
