Only 9 man teams

So I actually think it’d be tough to justify either Isaiah or Jimmer, but of the two, Isaiah probably deserves it the most. DeMarcus is easily in for the Sophomores.

Right now I have the rookie team as:

PG: Kyrie Irving (Doesn’t have 20-5-5 but has probably been better overall than Tyreke or even LeBron were in their rookie years, shooting 50% overall, 40% from three, and keeping the Cavs in the Playoff hunt somehow.)
SG: Marshon Brooks (May be out with a toe injury though)
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: Jon Leur
C: Enes Kanter

with Brandon Knight, Kemba Walker, Chandler Parsons and Nikola Vucevic as backups. If Brooks can’t play, maybe Thomas squeaks in.

Jimmer could be in the 3 point shootout though, if he starts getting more playing time again. Otherwise I don’t see that either.

Jimmer for the 3 point contest is the best shot we have.

But I would LOVE to see IT in the rookie game. JWILL anyone?

Don't see Jimmer in the 3PT contest this year either

Not in the top 20 in 3 point makes or 3P%.

Does the league use real criteria to decide participants??

I thought it was simply a popularity contest

Eesh is that the worst Rookie starting lineup in awhile?

Lets be honest, outside of Irving and the scoring brooks, the players arent impressive(yet of course). Last year was Wall Griffin Cuz Monroe Bledsoe, and before that was the PG entente of Evans jennings curry.

We can't win at home. We can't win on the road. I just can't figure out where else to play!

Oops

Duh. Yeah, he should be starting for Brooks. I don’t see Isaiah or Jimmer getting on at all.

I dont want Isaiah in Rookie Game

Ok I know you all are pissed with me saying that, but I feel as though Isaiah is out there playing hungry because he feels like he was disrespected by all the teams for not taking him. Just think how pissed he is going to be for not making the rookie squad? I don’t want him to make the rookie squad because I want him to keep playing with a chip on his shoulder. Keep playing scrappy, keep playing hungry, keep showing he was the steal of the draft.
Let Jimmer do the 3 contest and give him a bone so all the Jimmer fans will be happy.

And remember people

Isaiah wasn’t the last pick of the draft, he was just giving everybody else a head start.

No, I never said "Hey sweetheart I'm Rookie of the Year." I told her "I'm Tyreke Evans" though............Tyreke Evans

Isaiah is always going to be the underdog with something to prove, with his height.

I would love to see him make the rookie team, to give him the validation that he is proving himself. A little positive reinforcement goes a long way, too.

Asked if the Kings had any intention of trading Cousins, basketball president Geoff Petrie said, "No."

Will find out on Wednesday
NEW YORK — The NBA has decided to try a new format for its All-Star Weekend game featuring the league’s top young talent.

The Rising Stars Challenge will feature teams comprised of both rookies and sophomores. TNT analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal will serve as the general managers and conduct a draft on Feb. 16 to determine each team.

The rookies faced the sophomores in previous years.

The pool of players for this year’s game on Feb. 24 in Orlando, Fla., will be announced on Wednesday. The head coaches will be the lead assistants from the All-Star game coaching staffs.

The NBA announced the details on Tuesday.

so

is it going to be rookies against sophmores or just a big ol mish mash of rooks and sophs playing together

by TTown Kings on Feb 7, 2012 11:38 AM PST up reply actions

Reads like a big ol mash to me.

Changing the name to “The Rising Stars Challenge” leads me to think that as well.

Draft will be fun. Talk about hurt feelings. Wonder if this is a potential prelude to doing this for ASG like hockey.

Probably not, but this would be the place to experiment first.

Also have to imagine with both GMs being big men, that Cousins has a great opportunity to be selected first.

by SPTSJUNKIE on Feb 7, 2012 12:05 PM PST up reply actions

Hmmm -

I wonder if it’s still going to be 9 players per squad or if they’re going to expand it a bit? Cousins is a lock, but I’d be surprised if any other Kings player made it.

Also wonder if there will be 9 rooks and 9 sophs

The door seems open to take extra sophs to make up for a poor rookie class.

Would be interesting if the pool of players was at like 24

and only 18 can make the two teams. I’m calling DMC on Team Shaq

by jumpboi on Feb 7, 2012 1:16 PM PST up reply actions

Depends on who wins the coin toss

If Griffin is an all star and isn’t eligible for this game, Cousins could be the guy playing at the highest level right now. Short list would be him, Monroe, and Irving.
