This is about Chuck Hayes. Now, let me clarify that I don't think he sucks, but I have been underwhelmed by him. But this title sounded too good to not post.

I was excited when we got Chuck Hayes. I was all over youtube watching him dominate Bynum, Pierce, KG and others. I thought our season was doomed when his heart issue arose and when he was deemed fine I was elated. After the Laker game I predicted this team would be in a Western Conference final within 3 years.....things have changed.

Chuck Hayes is an excellent 1v1 post defender. He is even pretty good 1v1 on the wings. He is a very good high post passer. BUT he is NOT the wise smart veteran the Kings have been presenting him as the whole season. I am sick and tired of all these videos and quotes of Chuck talking about what the teams needs to do. I.E. play smarter, patience, relaxing, pass...... he makes as many stupid decisions and mistakes as everyone else. Chuck is not an all-wise veteran. He is a short, thick big man with a limited offense and questionable decision making.

Here's what else underwhelms me about him. His defensive presence: he is a good 1v1 defender but I am not impressed with his help defense. He has no shot blocking presence (yes, I knew that when we got him but still, its embarrassing. No one is scared of penetrating when Hayes is our big man.) Rebounding: he is a good rebounder for his size but not for a big man. He gets beat to rebounds by shooting guards. Chuck gives up an awful lot of offensive rebounds. His offense: better in the last few games but still weak. His high post turn and drive which always gets blocked is getting very annoying. His communication: pounding your fists on your shoulders doesn't do much. We are no better as a defensive unit then we were with Hawes at the helm.

I can't help but think how we'd be doing if we let Minnesota take Chuck and we take Pekovic off their hands.

Now you can feel free to rip me apart. But please no comments saying "Chuck is the wise veteran we need". "He is a dominating defensive presence." Because no, no he's not either. We may be scoring 120 a game now but we are giving up 115.
